neat picture show, I am new at that stuff
New at picture shows or the intercooler stuff?
picture stuff, I am only dreaming of FI

Very nice!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(MikeGyver @ May 27 2006, 09:11 PM) </div> Hey, here are the PN's for the IAT sensor and Grommet you needed from the other post.
IAT Sensor: PN 12160244
Grommet: PN 24504388
BTW, I decided to mount the sensor on the whipple hat, I registered about 210deg intake temps from the whipple, HOT!!
When the alky spray activated it dropped to about 105degs, timing went from 5-8degs to about 20degs, huge difference, no KR detected under either condition.
good luck on your project.

Thanks for the PNs, AN. What part is the Whipple "Hat"?

I just call that part that replaces the TB on the intake a hat, I dunno.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(farmtruc @ May 31 2006, 02:31 PM) </div>I was worried about the meth spray hitting the IAT and giving a false reading. That is why I mounted the IAT in the manifold. So now I'm (probably) getting a false reading from heat soak. Oh, well. When it was running last Hell's fire (summer), I wished I could get as much as 5-8 deg. With KR, I was seeing 0-2 degrees. Here's an example from a log I am looking at: 151 IAT (with methanol), 174 ECT. 100 TPS from 3149 to 4194 rpm, 8 degrees KR, 1.5 deg. advance. False KR? We'll see with this '02 computer you sent.Quote:

If you're getting no KR, then even if the spray is hitting your sensor, 20 sounds safe.
Is that what kind of timing we're looking for under boost?
HI,
Don't worry about it spraying on the iat, it's coated and sure it will read lower if it actually saturates it, but it really doesn't, it's a fog of air, if that, it evaporates quickly.
But yes, it can saturate it and can make it read low.
As an example, under good air, I run 19degs on my 5.3L with 5psi with the intercooler, the meth does a bit better, so 8psi should be ok around 18-24degs of timing, depending on the truck.
Now that you have an '02 PCM, I bet we get some good timing out of it and the iat's start to show good readings with the grommet it in and relocated.
How much boost is your truck going to produce? Is it just the intercooler, no meth?
I'd say let's start out with 18psi with 5-7psi.
hurry up, heheh!

No meth, that's why the X-large intercooler. I put a 7.5" crank pulley in place of the 6.5". With the driven pulley that I was using to make 6 psi, I think it would have made 9 psi without the intercooler, so if the intercooler lowers the pressure by 1-2 lbs, it should be in the 7 psi neighborhood.

Is this the same truck in the picture on ebay?
This is the ebay link:

alos how well did this intercooler work for the whipple. I have had dreams of doing a similar project but with changing the intake and using a intakeelbows.com elbow and edelbrock intake.
Thanks
