Truck feels much smoother and pulls alot better . The shift points really helped also. I'll run it with the Gtech tomorrow if its not raining and post up the results. It was 15.1 - 15.2 before....

Badass Mike!!!
I'm glad you like it, just from the shift points I bet you gained a tenth.
That 4L80E really came out nice, those shifts are awesome, it's not a jarring feeling guys, it's more of a shift and launch feeling.
We'll have to get together again, along with some other truck members and head out to the track. I think you're only about 30mins away.
Keep us updated and thanks for posting,
btw, You're the only one who's bought and installed the LS1Truck.com sticker, hmmmm, lol.
later,
allen
In the words of Eric Cartman...."sweeeeet". What did ya do with that evil called TqMgt? What are your shift points up to now?Quote:

We took TM out and it definitely made a difference. He said it used to feel like it was bucking during the shifts.
The shift points are at
1st = 5700rpms
2nd = 5600rpms
3rd = 5400rpms , but I'm not sure if it's safe taking that big ass fast truck that fast, lol, if so, it's definitely moving.
Set the speed limiter at 200mph, he said he was going to try and hit on the way home, heheheh
For those with chargers and superchips, there's a lot more in there.
later,
allen
Sticker should be good for 50 HP at least! :duh:Quote:

Stickers
Holy smoke!!! you will love this Allen
On the way home from work I was dragging a 750iL and doing pretty good and pop, massive exhaust leak!!
Well I thought for sure my welding job on the O2 bung cracked or something since I am less than confident on my welding skills.
So I babied it home, which really sucked cause there was Hemi's and ricers all over the place. It was redneck truck all the way home
Turns out the EGR tube busted off at the manifold connection!
So is it kick ass or what that we deleted the EGR tests :point:
I will weld up a block off plate or something to fix it. Glad it was something simple.
That must have been that noise we sort of noticed when we were almost finished tuning.
Too much back pressure, maybe I need some straight pipes. LOL
Mike
You scared me there for a sec, lol, I had to skim thru the post real quick and find out what the problem was and then go back and read the entire post, hahaha, .
That's definitely wierd it blew off, but now you got me thinking, I'll do some research and find out why. I didn't think there was that much pressure build up, lol.
So, badass on the racing, I'm sure you surprise the hell out of a lot of ppl with that big fast truck, it moves pretty damn good, and in style.
Ya, good thing on the egr, haha, maybe I tuned it so that it would blow off, lol, jk,
keep me updated, i hope everything goes well removing it.
allen
It was a blast running back to Austin! Truck moves nice. Throttle response is noticably better and the downshift when I puch it is kick ass!! Did'nt hit the 200mph limiter though  But it gets over 100mph real quick
The tube broke right at the flange connection on the passenger manifold. It must have been cracked before but did not have a noticable leak.
It will be easy to block off this morning. I'll call magnacharger on Mon and find out how much they want for a new tube. Maybe I'll do just fine without it.
I still think it would be better not to have that exhaust running into the blower....
LOL, it's a natural blowoff valve! :smile:Quote:

Psst...get you some slicks and take it to the track. :hshake:
Gtech times!!!!
Bitch'in!!!!
Did two runs before spotting a cop and decided to mosey on out.....
14.64 @ 97.9mph   Kick ass! (cartman)
14.74 @ 98.06mph a bit of wheelspin at 1500rpm launch
Fixin the egr was a bitch, naturally. One of the bolts was galled up and there was nothing to do but break it, drill it, tap it. But its done and no drivability issues with it missing so far....
Mike
Damn, almost .5 sec average!!! :eek:Quote:

Hey, you're mph is really f#$cking moving, that is very high for a big truck, that is great.
Keep tabs on the egr, hope it turns out good for you, no wonder it blew off, lol, all that extra power, hahaha.
see ya online,
allen
man thats great to see you running that fast i will watch out for ya
so any side effects yet with the egr removed?
just wondering,
allen
Nope. No issues or differance that I can tell. Truck is running awsome! :thumb:Quote:

Mike
i guess the additional revs and power didn't like the egr
I checked in with Nelson performance. Im interested in getting a tune basically for towing & some added smile power lol. I have a 4800 in a 2001 silverado ext cab thats totally stock. Also, is their programmer a handheld & what will it do to my manu. warranty? Thanks for the input
Allen does a custom tune for you. It will far exceed a handheld for sure. I will let him reply with specifics.Quote:

I use edit to make changes to the pcm. No handheld is involved like the hpp3/diablo/etc.Quote:

A performance tune will not cause your truck to fail any testing, I'm making the engine run more efficiently, therefore more power.
I haven't ran into any problems with the warranty either, if for some reason the dealer does flash over my tune, I'll take care of it.
later,
allen
And more MPG too. I gained 3 on the freeway!Quote:

This sounds perfect. Just what I need :thumb: I just figured out Allen, your the same guy Ive been emailing at Nelson perf. Anyway, Disreguard my mail except the price for me, This is DEFINANTLY the route im taking. Prolly towards late winter early spring. Just in time for race season  She should charge up do's mountains, roll the flats more than I expected. I have more questions but those will come when I send ya my stuff. Thanx a bunch & glad as hell I found this site and you Allen, b4 I dove in to hypertech.
Besides....My wife would have killed me for doing hypertech and not this hehehe :bash:
No problem, feel free to ask away or give me a call if you have any questions,Quote:

Ok Im sold!! :hshake: . When some sponsor denaro comes around, Ill send it out to ya. Just wish I could get a dyno pull or 2 locally here to compare but if not after I will for sure. Great results on these other guys trucks! I can feel more ponies right now compared to my 97 sierra with the 5.7 but the torque is noticably lower towing. This tune should be what the doc ordered Thanx
Sounds great! When I do this can you send new pcm B 4 I send mine? I know ya might not want to but Its a daily driver & cant have downtime or any other options we can explore. Sorry about avatar..... I dont have my truck pic yet!
Kevin
Hey, I'll have plenty of pcms coming in mid next week and I can ship you one, so that there is no downtime. Then you'll send me your core, or I only charge $125 for the core.Quote:

Thanks,

So its just 125 for a simple exchange of cores? or an extra 125 for swap? whats difference in cores if any physically
Kevin
I offer two options, you send me your pcm and i'll tune that one and ship it back to you.
OR,
I'll send you a tuned pcm and you send me your current one.
This charge ($125) is separate from the cost of a tune and only applies if you never send me your pcm as a core.
hope this helps,
allen
hmmmm
Is there something wrong with that, i have to have one of the pcms if i send you one, then i'd be buying everyone a pcm, lol.Quote:

It will be nice to have a 4.8 that thinks its at least a 5.3 hehehe :hshake: Talk to ya soon
Kevin

ok cool, you're gonna have to pull and arrange just a few wires on the harness, if you have a 98 harness, i'm sure a quick call to dynatech or hell even ls1.com has the pin outs, it sounds more trouble than it's worth, but it's very easy,Quote:

just push the pins out and put them in thier new place, going off of a 99 plus pinout.
send me that 98 pcm and i'll send you a new style one, programmed and ready to rock.
i believe only a few wires need to be switched in order to make it 99 compatible. plus, if you go this route, i can send you more pcms if you ever decide you wanna do some upgrades, heheeh.
let me know,
allen
