New converter in

We got the Yank 2600 stall in today. It went in the Dragalanche.
WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!!

The stock one stalled to about 1200rpms, I can get 2600 out of this one. And, it builds about 1psi.
This truck has never seen a good burn out, lol, now it does hahahah.

It feels like a 13sec truck now. I'll find out at the track this friday.
For some reason it's only at 4psi, feels a ton stronger. Maybe we have an exhaust leak, we did remove the ypipe and relocate the wideband again.

I can't get over this, it's very strong now. The road is a bit smooth out here, so it helps with burning out. But now it squeels the tires all the way through 1st gear.

Boost is almost immediate as well.

When I lay into it, it'll flash to about 3Krpms, or just under, or it gets there so quick, then it just takes off.

btw, the wideband didn't show any different wot readings now that it's located before the cat, compared after the turbo, but i'll get into that later.

The stall makes all the difference in the world. I know I love my 3600 stall. 13MPG sucks in the city but it leaves a stop light without spinning a tire and I leave the pack behind like they're still waiting for it to turn green. :laugh:

Allen I can honestly say I wish I had gone for that Yank you were telling me about, I mean i had to get the 2500 for time reasons, but damn if my truck leaves the line as quick as it does now, damn i wish i could see the 2800! Let us know how it does at the track!

Go for the Yank, it's only $375 and works great!!!
I can't wait to bust into the 13's with a 5800lb truck.

i restalled my stock verter and like you say....WHAT A DIFFRENCE&#33;&#33;&#33;....i can stall it on up to till i cant hold it with my brakes around 26-2700....glad you got it in there allen...let me know what you run friday night....i dropped 1/2 second with mine with no traction&#33;&#33;&#33;&#33;

A converter is probably one of the most important mods to install for launching and 1/4 mile times. Not only does it drop the 60&#39;, it allows for a higher shift extension.

I put one in mine several months ago and love it. It brake stalls to 2500 and I see 1-2 # of boost at laungh. It made a HELL of a difference in my truck.


If I could have got a Yank for &#036;375 then I would have bought one but at the time they were around &#036;600. I got the trailblazer converter for &#036;250 to my door, no exchange.

Agreed. There are a lot of people out there doing bolt on mods that end up costing a couple of thousand &#036; and a converter swap would have given them more 1/4 mile performance than all of their bolt on&#39;s. IMO

That is great. I have a TB converter in mine it was really tight till I power braked it a few times it still is not too loose but you can tell a difference.
A buddy of mine drove mine (keep in mind this is a 1968 pickup) and he came out all smiles. One of his compliments was how great it shifts. He has a NBS truck so the combinations are very simular and he said they dont compare.

Took a bodyman for a ride and he asked me where I hid the turbo at. He said he felt the truck kick in at 3000 RPM and never came down until 100 mph when I let off.... :burnout: :eek:

Your cam profile was setup with a converter in mind, so ya, finally getting one in will make a huge difference.
This is just my opinion, also, drivability isn&#39;t as important to me, nor is gas mileage, so with that being said, a 3000stall will make that truck haul ass&#33;&#33;&#33;&#33;
Once it&#39;s in there, it will effortlessly accelerate and stay about 2600-2800rpms during a semi aggressive take off which is very close to your power band. Normal driving will be fine and wot will be awesome&#33;

nice to hear the update Allen&#33;, Those stalls make a night and day diff along with the cam, i had my vig 2800 stall and cam put in at the same time and the difference was amazing&#33;&#33;&#33; Sometimes i wish i would have went w/a 3000 but all around i love the stall. I just dont like the slight "hunting" at low rpms but its not that bad. Just mashing it from a stop boost kicks in quick and just obliterates the tires&#33;&#33;&#33; i,m hoping for low 13&#39;s with my setup at 8 psi and am not gonna stop till i see high 12,s&#33; :thumb:

man to tell you the truth, i havent seen mine or any of my buddies last any more than 125k on these trannies. And if you look at what I added, it was relatively inexpensive to boost up my tranny to a built 65e. It was the rear end and labor to get that working that pushed the price to &#036;5k.

Hey guys I got my tb stall in and needed to know if I need a retune for it . Another thing , it only brake stalls to 2200 rpm, I had heard there good for 2600

How will it effect the daily stop and go driving and at highway speed?

Sorry to hijack the thread Allen. I am glad to hear it is coming together. I can&#39;t wait to get down there and see the work first hand.

Shouldn&#39;t effect it at all, might feel a bit sluggish around town sometimes before it loosens up, but you can raise the shiftpoints to settle that.

I&#39;m gonna prove my &#036;300.00 Dacco starting tomorrow. So far I like it alot and it launches you pretty damn good for the price. All my problems seem to be in my pinion. If I can&#39;t find shims tomorrow, I&#39;ll cut the rear axle housing mount off and relocate them to make the correction.

Any dirt roundy-round track race car supply store will have the shims. They are cheap if you can find you a store. You can order them online from Smiley&#39;s or Speedway or any of those kind of places. Hell, you have access to a mill and bar stock, make you a set&#33;

Yeah, I thought about making a set. That would be too easy&#33; LOL I thing Texas Trucks Unlimited has some. I&#39;m gonna try them in a few minutes. If not, I&#39;ll just have to order some.

Oh yeah, offroad truck stores should have them to correct the pinion angle after a lift kit. Try 4wheelparts, too.
