I just found out from Billy that one of the new NHRA rules is that the turbo must be located in the engine bay.
BS :bs: :tantrum: :tantrum: :grr: :grr: Thats so much crap!!!!
Do you remeber when the turbo 3.8L buick came out? Then NHRA band turbo's at the events, because they where smoking the shit out of the N/A v-8 cars. Sounds like the same BS to me!!!
Thanks for letting me vent out!

That has got to be a bad rumor.

Nope, that rule is true. I guess STS needs to hire a lawyer because their business is going to go down hill. I saw the new rule on a track's website. I just knew STS was going to be fuming over that. The rule won't affect us guys that aren't NHRA registered racers though. The rule doesn't disqualify individuals from racing during test and tune and street wars nights at NHRA tracks, just won't let you race in a points race.

-
yep i saw that too but it doesnt pertain to us unless we are in the nhra points races at the nhra sanctioned tracks...
-
Theres no way we (as trucks) can do that unless we run twins right?
-
They must be scared that a rear mounted turbo will beat all their front mounted turbos?
-
There's just some old fart sitting around seeing what new rules he can come up with. The kind of guy that can't handle change! :flipoff:
-
new rule... role cages required for any racer!! LOL mine will be made of exhaust pipes. LOL i laugh cause i know people that have that great setup.
-
STS can't really do anything legally to get them to change the rule, it's their organization so they can do whatever they want. as for a rear mount turbo being a front mount that's stupid, if it's tuned right it wont matter where it's located, and you CAN run a single front mount turbo setup with a truck, but twins is better!
-
after reading the new rule and using some common sense you will realize that this rule has NOTHING TO DO with anyone on this forum at all in any way-shape-or-form. the rule was made for the STOCK class of nhra sportsman competition and since the trucks did not come from the factory with a turbo the rule does not apply to them. since NO vehicle to my knowledge has ever come from the factory with a rear mount turbo the rule is probably to keep guys that have a car that did come with a turbo factory (grand nationals etc....but really why would a grand national relocate to a rear mount... eh, anyways) from moving them around.
-
i dont get though.. wtf difference does it make where the turbo "IS"? is the STS an unfair advantage over the other superchargers? i guess the STS guys like yall have been wiping up the the quarter with yalls stuff. those damn haters!!! :nono:
-
the STS is definatly not an unfair advantage over anyone, the rule isn't outlawing the STS, it's outlawing guys who's vehicles came factory with tubros from relocating them. the STS kits have NO advantage over any other type of power adder, infact i would consider a rear mount kit last in my options for boost.

I'm thinking NHRA sees the long oil lines (feed/return) as a risk for the track owners. If this were the case though, they would have outlawed them altogether. Who knows?
