Ok decided on the motor I am going to build for big blue. It will be built by HOLLENDRIX MOTORSPORTS. The motor is going to be DE-stroked 4.27 experimental. The truck will be running a single exhaust, manifolds and a factory style Y-pipe. Yes you heard those correctly. :laugh: I will give you guys more info as I get deeper into it. Oh and I will defenantly need to get that performance tune from allen with this one.

What do you mean 4.27? Bore or what. Why are you going to run stock manifolds with how you are going to want to spin a short stroke motor you are going to need all the exhaust flow you can get.

Ahhhh we have a smart one :thumb: I was wondering how long it would take someone to figure out about that. It will be a 427. 4.27 designation on the experimental engine. The exhaust will be factory style. Basicly you look at it and be like man that looks stock. But it is what is hiding under that sheeps clothing that is going to be the fun part. Now take in to consideration this vehicle will still be driven daily 100 to 200 miles if not more. This is going to be a durability test also on this engine.
So you are building a motor with a 4.125 bore with a stock stroke or what you have me confused or are you just building a damn 427?

What does DE stand for? better go with a WIDE lsa for stock idle
Just part of the company designiation of the combination. Kind of like military does with experimenal aircraft.
I guess just makes it more difficult why not just say 427 and be done with it??????
well it will be when it is done. Right now it is in the experimental stage.
Sounds like your going to build a big bore / short stroke motor for high revving with unshrouded combustion chambers. When the pistion is at its closest approach, the "squishing" action on the flat portions force a turbulent jet of mixture into the combustion chamber. The better mixture burns more efficiently and is more resistant to detonation. Some engine builders believe the piston should approach as close as practical in order to maximize this effect, but clearance is needed to allow for piston rock, thermal expansion, etc. Not sure about the DE 4.27 either. Than again I'm prbably wrong as usual! LOL
Ok guys sorry about the confusion. Due to it being experimental engine I can not give out the specific details bore stroke etc. This engine is in basic terms is a 427 but not in a typical sense as to what is being built out there. I can tell you that no it does not have a 4" stroke. This engine if passes the drivability and durability test will be sold as a short block or long block. Big Blue is just going to be the lucky truck for it to be tested in. There will be dyno numbers run along with mpg.
I honestly dont see how you are going to do it effectively and be able to spray it or throw FI on it. Even on a sleeved block teh best you can hope for is a 4.200 bore and still have enough cylinder wall thickness. A 4.2 bore with a 3.85 bore would net a 427. The decreased stroke over the traditional 4.100 bore would help greatly for high rpm hp and then of course you will have alot of low end torwue which we need for our heavy ass trucks. Guess will just have to see. I just love the instant torque of my 418 now matter where I stomp it at in first its pretty much instant tire smoke in my heavy ass truck until I put it in 4wd.
