Hey Allen why don't you stuff this cam in your truck...it will idle like stock and pick up decent power.. :devil:Quote:

it's already went thru my head, why do you do this to me, i wasn't going to say anything and just let it pass, you're a
if it was just a steal, i would, more will come up at 150, now if it was at 100 i may do it, just to see the power gains.
then i'd have a reason to take those smaller injectors out , 24's i think, and install my 8.1L injectors that have been sitting here for a while.
i'll have to sleep on it, but it's tempting,
thanks a lot, hehe
allen
Stock LS1 ones are like 24lbs/hr but that's at that weird GM fuel pressure right? I can't remember do you use a truck style accessory or LS1 style?Quote:

If you run the LS1 style just scoop up some 87-93 Mustang injectors as they are the same.
i got the truck intake, so i have the truck injectors, the 8.1's are rated at 30lbs, so that should be ok for a while
the 98 came with 28.8# injecters right?
I have an 01 LS6 cam and I love it!
ya, sure did,Quote:

Those 8.1 injectors should be fine for a long time in an all motor application and even work with a wet NX nitrous shot...
Farmtruc, if you want a cheap 02 LS6 cam, my buddy is selling one for 125+shipping.
holy shit, you are alive, hahaha, i thought (hoped) you were in jail or seomthing, lol, jk
i'll keep that in mind, i just bought a stall and trying to buy shop supplies so i gotta watch it.
thanks,
allen
yeah, i'm alive. i like what you've done with the site. it looks bad ass.
if i could get one for like $100 id be all over it as well
You guys with LS1's and 6.0's (01+) won't gain too much power the way I figure it. The Z06 cam is a 204 intake dur and the 6.0 and LS1 cams are in the high 190's like 197-198.Quote:

If you add labor to this ($400 lets say) and springs $100, and pushrods $100 then you end up spending around $700 for maybe 10-15rwhp...
Hell an ASP crank pulley will add about that. This cam would be better in a 4.8/5.3 or an iron headed 6.0
the LS6 gained 30rwhp for me in my 6.0 with stock 6.0 heads. that's 30 ACTUAL horsepower at the rear tires. it's a damn good cam.
If I go to all the trouble to swap cams and springs it better have more lift than that Z06 cam!
the LS6 cam has a ton more lift than that stock cam you have in your motor. .551/.551 isn't to bad at all. ofcourse coming from someone that went through the trouble to put a new motor in an old truck, but leave the 2.73s and a stock converter in....well, that's enough said.
why did you get another cam then? just wasnt enough? how much did you see from the 220/220 cam you have now..is it just a "torquier" cam?Quote:

i think gmcwantsls1 just order his gears/posi this week also.
the 220 cam has pretty much the same lift, but didn't make the power it does due to it's larger duration, and 114 LSA. i actually swapped cams over the weekend for a slightly bigger more nitrous oriented cam.
the reason the 2.73 gears are still in is that I still had not decided what gears to go with until now. I have a 8 7/8 12 bolt that is considered by most to bet the best 1/2 ton truck rear that GM ever made and I want to keep it. Other wise I could have put one of those wimpy 10 bolts (I can find those all day long with lower gears) in and break it.
Don't buy it he probally won't send it. Just like he didn't show up at the track like he said he would. I bet he lied about how fast his truck is anyway, if he even has one.Quote:

Do you have a dyno graph from this? It doesn't seem feasable to me with such little gains in duration unless the lift gains give you that much powerQuote:

:point: sinking deeper cammed02silvy :taunt:
gmc, you are so jealous of people with faster shit than you. i have a dyno graph. i'll get it up for ya when i get home from work. and i'll put my 10 truck bolt up against your 12 bolt truck ANY DAY OF THE WEEK.
i dont doubt that the cam will give 30hp, if you look at the motor that chevy was gonna put in the regular cab SS, it had 390 hp, and the only difference from the Lq9 motor was a LS6 cam and it had LS6 heads, which arent much different from the heads that come on the 6.0s.
and either way, id be using this cam with a procharger so i dont really care what id gives a N/A motor
on the graphs:
there's know way to tell those two graphs are going to be old cam and new cam runs, how do we know other mods weren't involved, maybe that cam will give you thirty horsepower if you had heads/headers, and other stuff, but alone, i doubt it, we'll just have to wait for proof.
i guess we'll just have to take your word on it, we know how good that is, lol
don't worry jammed02silvy, every forum has to have its troll, you should be honored!
later,
allen
all this trash coming from a bunch of guys with stock cams in their old POS trucks. it's funny, once either of you bums has put a cam alone in your stock rides then you can comment. the LS6 cam gained 27.4rwhp/23.6rwtq with the only other modification being a ported oil pump, which add NO horsepower at all. the truck already had HAMM headers on it at the time, with otherwise stock exhaust and a bullet muffler.
You're right, these are our first trucks and we've never seen an aftermarket cam or installed one,
How is that like, I'd love to see some pics, lol
it's all in fun,
see ya online,
allen
Well my truck cost just under $37K...so how's it a POS? Its an '01 Z71 ext cab, stepside w/ LT package...Quote:

Full length headers and that muffler isn't a stock exhaust. That's where the cam's gains come from up top.
never said your truck was a pos hitman, just gmcslowLS1, and femtruc.
the headers and a bullet were the only changes to the exhaust, still had cats, and all stock tubing even coming out the back behind the tire. the exhaust was changed prior to the cam swap though. AS I SAID, THE ONLY CHANGE WAS THE CAM AND A PORTED OIL PUMP. and the gains weren't ALL up top, it started making more power around 2800 i believe
All I can say is take to the track and show us!!
when you coming out to the track, cammy?
All this talk makes me wanna race. I don't mind if i loose, i just like racing and seeing if you really are in the 11's.
Well saying anyone's vehicle is a POS isn't cool...even if they roll a Ford Festiva or a Pinto or a Kia...it sure beats the hell out of walking. I could have a fast ass Z71 if I didn't feel like sticking in a giant stereo...but better tunes are more important to me as I drive a lot. On top of that I like having my credit cards clear and not paying 3-5X over for the price of something.Quote:

My F-150 has a really ghetto paint job on it (a la Maaco) but when I feel like spending $900 to get it repainted I will. That is going to be me sneak truck. I mean trading legal work for it was pretty damn cool if you ask me.
The WRX I got also has really poor factory clear coat (already bubbled in a few places!) and the body panels dent sooooo easily I'd have mistaken them for aluminum. There is NO sound deadening at all inside and the stock radio blows. I am gonna drive this bitch for another year or so and off it before it falls apart. I then will take all my parts back off and put it back to stock then also. I have something pretty insane inmind for a next vehicle if my job transfer turns out as well as it is supposed to...
The stock truck exhaust is 2.5" duals into a 2.75" y-collector which flows really well so do the stock cats. I think the exhaust attributed to the cam swap tho' by allowing more flow. I don't doubt it added more power just not to that extent. By hey, anything is possible I suppose.
you boys come up to Ennis and i'll race ya all day long
whatever jammy, you said that last time you were down here and you never showed up, what's up with that?Quote:

for one right now to buy
