Theres a thread in automotiveforums going on about this...
From what I've read, it might not be all bad. But then again...who knows
Any opinions on this??

good reading about acetone
This article says to use only a couple ounces of 100% pure acetone per tankful for increased mileage. The acetone doesn't do any damage to seals per his research. The seals swell a small amount but stabilize.
I think I'll try it this weekend on my trip to Statesboro and see if I can see any instant gains. If not, I already know what my truck averages, so let the testing begin!
18-22 mpg difference on a neon :bs: . im willing to try,im just afraid of getting any on the paint
Yeah, I was kind of worried about that too. I guess I can use a funnel with a hose or something on it to keep it away from the paint.
Or measure it in one of those Day Quil thingy's
Even if all it does is clean your injectors, your ahead of the game.
Just don't let the girl put it in since it's finger nail polish remover she might get pissed if it melts her paint.
OH yeah.. I told my girl about it and she said she wanted to try it if it worked for me.....she's pretty kick ass though, maybe she can ring the hole lol
I bet her Accord will kick some ass (mpg wise) if it works right.
i buy mine at walmart and still use it when i think about it...it does increase mpg...i use 2 to 3 oz per every 10 galons of gas...
I use it when i think about. 2 oz. per 10 galons and I get right at 2 mpg more.
A bud of mine tried it in his F150 and noticed no appreciable gains. This is over the course of two weeks.
I found some at the house last night. I'm going to add like 2 ounces per 10 gallons to see whats up.... It can't hurt...
hey JayBo... were do you live I'm over in Statesboro every now and then. It's probably 35 min. from my house in Vidalia. I have a bunch of friends that go to college over there.
I live in Preston, which is 20 miles West of Americus. My girlfriend just started Southern this semester. She is from Lumpkin, which is not far from Columbus which is where shes moving to in December. She loves Southern, just hates being away from home (and from me, she says  ). We both have some friends that go there though.
I'll be in Statesboro this weekend and next weekend. Its about 3 hours from here.
I'd like to know how to get there from where you are b/c tomorrow I'm leaving from Americus to go and I'm thinking Vidalia might be faster to get to I-16 than going through Montezuma, Hawkinsville, and Cochran.
Well I take hwy. 292 to cobbtown and than I get on I-16 at the Metter/ Cobbtown exit and shoot down to Statesboro exit. Hey when yall go there yall need to go party at Legends, I'm sure your girlfriend has heard or already been there. That place is a blast on the weekends.

Just remember most fuel pump socks are made of Nylon and with too much acetone could cause them to shrink.
Hey Lance, dump a bottle of fingernail polish remover in those storage tanks so that the whole nation get better fuel mileage.
We went there a few weeks ago and saw Laney Strickland band, who is one of my favorites. The crowd was really small and it kinda was dissapointing b/c they stopped playing after about 2 hours. But...I did have some good luck that night, I bought a $6 crown/coke, handed the bar chick a $10, and got $14 back! :rock:Quote:

There aren't any tracks down that way are there?
Oh yeah. I added 3.5 oz of acetone to 23 gallons of gas last night. I guess if it is a shit story, now's the time i'll find out. I just hope it doesn't crap out on me while im on the interstate runnin about 85
Greg, We used to have our own gas station at the plant and the operators would blend 93 or higher octane gas into the 87 pump.
If you get gas from a BP/Amoco station that looks clear like water, that's our Ultimate 93 octane. Used to be good gas until they took it away from us.
Their are 2 tracks that all the statesboro people go to one is in Jackson S.C. which is 1/4 mile and the other is Savannah Dragway which is about 30 min from statesboro and it is 1/8 mile.Quote:

buying 93 octane isn't too bad now since it's only 20 cents more per gallon. Gas is $2.88 around here now. Thank God it's finally coming down. Time for a senate investigation with the gas companies, they reap record profits while taking advantage of us during this crisis.
Well I'm in Statesboro...And so far I have 270 miles and have a little more than half a tank left. I guessed thats about 24.5 mpg....this kicks ass so far, running 80 half the way and 65 half.
I work there too (if you're talking about the south houston site), but I don't remember that... then again, I've been there for only a year and a half.Quote:

I'm going to try adding 2oz of pure acetone per 10 gals this weekend. anything to make my gas budget hurt a little less.
I just added 3 1/2 ounces or so to a full tank (around 26 gals) so I will get to see what it does on my commute to school tomorrow.

I never thought anyone would try this but me.
Dude I'm willing to try anything to help out a little at the moment, I dont expect anything drastic, but if it dont tear up the engine, count me in! :thumb:
