I'm looking at a master power 70mm with a .68 a/r and was wondering what kind of power it will make on my 4.8? New to turbos so any info would be great.
Thanks!

I just noticed the sticky at the top of the page, duh sorry for the newb moment there guys!
the sticky doesn't really answer your question. your question is kind of open ended.
but on a stock engine, considering stock drivetrain and wheels, and considering you have all the supporting mods, 430hp would be a good number to shoot for.
You figure your stock 4.8L is laying down about and no more than 230hp wheel power; that's another 200hp to the wheels.
Power band will be determined by the layout of the kit and other variables.
Spool up should be fine and is also affected by all the tubing and exhaust, etc.
Yea the sticky gave me an idea of what it will do, but your answer helped norrow it more. I'm only gonna change the intake on the 4.8, to an ls7 I think. My buddy is giving it to me off his ctsv. I picked up a cheap high mile 5.3 that I'm going to build up over time.
just make sure the intake ports match. not to be picky, but the 4.8L, LS7, ctsv comment you made may not match up, unless you're just spouting stuff off like i do and don't really care if it makes sense lol.
Lol, he's giving me the intake so I figure if the ports match its a win. I'm also a converted ford guy some this LS stuff is still fresh to me lol. I checked out your truck on youtube and that this is sick man!
Got some questions on waste gate and blow off valve. Whats the best bang for the buck? What size should I run with this 70mm turbo? I've been doing research but seeing alot of different answers.
They never put ls7's in a ctsv. Unless your buddy put it on his car and is now swapping, it's not a ls7 manifold. But really there is no need for a different manifold. The stock truck will support all the power you could make with that 70mm. What are your plans for the hot pipes?
i'd get a 40mm, we use Turbosmart, they are solid wg's. should work fine on your setup.
best bang for the buck, not sure, i quit buying the "budget" wg's.
thx on the truck comment,
Its the stock intake off the ctsv, I thought he said ls7 could be wrong lol. He's going aftermarket and is just gonna give it to me I'm just gonna hold on to it for another motor. I'm putting this setup in a '97 Ford Ranger, gonna have to built my own manifolds. Cross over pipe from the driverside to the passengerside to a t4 flange, if thats what you were asking. I'm new to the turbo scene.
Thats what I've been reading about the wg's not to skimp on a cheap one, thanks I'll check them out. There's a "farm truck" here in Jersey '68? C10 5.3 Turbo, nothing like having a fast truck!
Yea that c10 is sick. Since you will be building your own setup you should get "maximum boost" by corky bell. You can get it on Amazon. It explains about exhaust velocity and a bunch of other valuable information. Your best bet is finding a set of stock manifolds that will work for your setup and build from there. I'd say go with 2" from the manifolds and step it up to 2.25" on the way to the turbo. Like Allen said a 40mm gate should work just fine as long as it's plumbed into the right spot. For the cold side I would run 3" for the whole thing and rps sells a 50mm box for $100. Also try to fit the biggest intercooler you can, preferably a 4" core
Awesome thanks I'll def pick up that book. I have a set of truck manifolds that im going to try to see if they fit. Thanks for all the info. Whats the 50mm box your talking about? You have a link to it?
Scratch that, I'm guessing you meant bov not box lol!
Haha yea phone corrected it. Meant bov. Here's a link http://www.racepartsolutions.com/ind...nuf?Itemid=564
They also have a bunch of other turbo stuff like oil feed/return, wrap, boost controllers, fuel stuff, vacuum line, etc
Haha yea it happens, thanks I'll check them out.
How bout a fuel system for this set up? I have a 16gal fuel cell I'm mounting under the rear of the bed. What fuel pump, size lines, injectors etc...
Depends how many horsepowers you want
Well I only wanna buy once, I have a 5.3 I plan on building up eventually with a bigger turbo. With that set up I'd like to be around 700rwhp, this set up I'd be happy in the 500rwhp range.
get one of the inline Magnfuel or Aeromotive pumps that support your hp requirements and 100lb injectors.
I was looking into the areomotive a1000 pump. What brand injectors do you recomend?
Ok I'll check them out, thanks!
