There's a serious shortage of .22 cal bullets here in Mississippi. Finally found some the other day and they wanted 25 bucks for 50 rounds!! What's the going rate in your state? I can still buy 30-06 25 rounds for 30 bucks but I've got CRATES full of that round. Does anyone have some ammunition they would like to sell ?
9mm and .22LR basically can't be found around here in Utah. Most times it arrives, employee calls friend, friend is there when store opens, buys everything. It makes zero sense to me. .22LR has got to be the least likely round to get banded and I guess 9mm and 22are just so common everyone wants some. Seen a lot of 50ct boxes going for $6 and larger boxes going for more. 2000ct for $300 is pretty standard around here.
A guy came by the shop a few weeks ago trying to sell a 550 round box of 22 long rifle bullets for 75 bucks. I got to talking with him and he said that him and his friends are at gander mountain and academy sports when the truck comes in with the ammo. They buy all of it then mark it up and ride around to all the local shops and businesses and sell it. I politely explained to him how he was part of the reason why the ammo prices are thru the roof then I not so politely told him to leave. Makes me pissed just thinking about it.

I hoarded quite a bit before all the BS. I didn't get any 9mm because I sold mine to my father. I still need to find some .280
if they can't control the guns, they will control the ammo. i bought a new 15-22 from a local store and they would only sell me 100 .22 rounds at a time. WTF???
As annoying as that kind of behavior is, not to mention somewhat illegal, it is pretty smart and I like to see people trying to make a dollar instead of sitting on their asses. It's not really any different then if you owned a shop selling ammo. I am a salesman/businessman thru and thru so that is probably why I can appreciate what they are doing. As mentioned by others the government is the biggest cause for the sky high prices.Quote:

Well put playboy! My finances were really tight during hunting season this year and I couldn't justify paying 25 bucks for 50 rounds of ammo to kill a few squirrels when I could reload 25 rounds of 30-06 cheaper and fill my freezer full of deer.

Believe me where I come from shooting is just as important as anywhere and I hate that a lot of idiots are making this situation worse. However, I don't see a difference between this and scalpers at a baseball game or any other event for that matter. I agree that its unfortunate that this is Affecting all of us, but worse than the people selling stuff at these rediculous prices are those who are buying. They are the ones creating the demand. If people weren't paying stupid money it wouldn't exist. It's the same problem we have in any industry. As long as we continue to pay high prices for anything whether it be gas, ammo, event tickets, or housing, the demand is still there and someone will be there to make a dollar. Yeah problem with this policy is at many locations employees are violating this rule for friends, family, coworkers, etc. Been pretty annoying to see the problem made worse time and time again. I am hoping the idiots get stocked up and the ridiculousness can end. Obama is defiantly salesmen of the year for all these businesses.
