c'mon down....
I'm looking forward to it, I'm not so sure the wife is as willing as me though but the pay is not something I can pass up
You'll have her turned into a beach bunny in no time
She is already, so it shouldn't be to difficult to talk her into it!
Welcome to the land with no winters
You'll like the weather down here if you do move.
Corpus area is great. I loved living down there. Plus if you need to head to the big city, San Antonio is a short(Tx.) drive away.
4 diffrent sanctioned tracks within 2-3 hrs from you...HRP,HMS,RGV AND SAR...there is one in laredo but i have never visited it....texas mile....1 dirt track and 1 pave short track in corpus....acouple of nice stock car tracks close
I won't miss snow storms, its not as bad in OK as here and Virginia. Ive been wanting to goto the Raceday for the past few years but couldn't make it because of the military and moving but now I won't have any excuses. Thanks for the early welcome, wife remembered she has friends that are stationed in corpus so she wants to head that way.
only thing you have to worry about are hurricanes but they dont blow thru that often....snow here once every 20 years...lol
I can live with that!
Well I got the job, I just have to wait for the state of Texas to register me to be able to work armed, and everything else and then we move!
Congrats man!
Cool..congrats is in order for shure
Thanks guys, see you knuckle draggers soon
congrats dude, you'll love it down there and so will the wife!
i lived there for 5 years and enjoyed every bit of it, worked at a major hospital down there ( memorial medical center ) wish i would have never quit, but i was young back then lol, got home sick i guess :(
Sounds like a good time for sure, it helps the wife knowing she already has friends there too. Its a friend she meet while me and her husband were in Afganiland so shes excited, and ready for warm weather and the beach. My job isnt directly in Corpus, headquaters is about 20 mins away but Im trying to make it where she can live right on the beach while Im out of country.
Looking at houses and get more excited compaired to the cost of living here on the east cost! Means I can get a good size house for cheap!
south side of town housing is very reasonable plus your never over 15 minutes from the beach...or even south side flour bluff area for that matter
He should look out by Saratoga. You might not want the wife at the beach when you are gone. We used to live as close as you could to the beach on the island. I work out of the country too and sure enough that is when the last hurricane came close to corpus. It was a mess for my wife. I am by no trying to detour you from living on the island. Just stuff comes with it.
No by any means, advice is always welcome from someone with experience! If anything ever comes up shell just head north to OK where my family is. It doesnt even have to be on the island, Walking distance is cool and all, but she would probably drive anyway if Im not with her. What do you do Slo if you dont mind me asking?
I'm a Sr. Mechanical Adviser for Shell Nigeria. In other words a company man on a Field support vessel for one of Shell's Oil fields here in Nigeria. I oversee all the sub-sea installations, repairs and maintenance to the Shell Bonga Field. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonga_Field
yea that south east side of saratoga is really growing right now and would be a great place to look for housing
I hear the oil industry is where its at! My company does a lot of security for oil fields here and higher priority stuff overseas and that's where big money comes in for us.
I was looking for awhile at housing in the stratford area in CT., 2100SqFt ran average about 350 to 400K. So this is a nice change of pace for us!
I wish i had ex-pat security. Its all locals and their POS AK's in a chase car behind me. Half the time i think they would sell me out with a quickness for a couple hundred. LOL.
Careful, if anything did ever happen those guys shoot first and ask questions later!
