Has anyone painted thier dash? Do you have to remove it? I ask this because mine is peeling like most gm trucks do and would like to paint but dont want to take it out. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Its not to bad to pull out!
I really dont have time to pull it out i use it everyday. What if i just mask everything up really good would that work?
Im going to take my time and do it right, sanding and prepping but at least with the dash in i can still use the truck and just do little by little. Just wanted to know if anyone has done this so i can know what to expect.
F you try to do it while leaving it in I can just about guarantee it'll look like crap and start flaking within a couple months. Pull it and do all the proper surface prep or buy a spare And do it on that one instead.
Yeah i see what y'all mean i might as well wait till i hace the time to do it right. Thanks for the advice. Ill just start with the doors and other interior panels.
I painted mine using SEM products... looks factory. Below is a list of what I used - in this order too.
SEM Soap SE39362 to clean (scrubbed with this soap and scuff pad)
SEM Plastic and Leather Prep SE38353
SEM Sand Free SE38363 (basically an adhesion promoter)
SEM Color Coat (I used a black satin finish. I tried the regular black, but it was too shiny and looked too cheesy for me)
I'm pleased with how it came out. The dash was removed from the truck too... the passenger air bag was the only thing still mounted in the truck I re-painted.
Key is to clean it well and use latex gloves the whole time to prevent any oil contamination from your hands.
There should be pics of the dash in my build thread. If not, shoot me a pm with your email and I can send you pics.
I will definately take a look at sem products. I wanted to paint it a satin black also. Did you sand it smooth or just enogh so the paint would adhere to it? Thanks alot for the info.
Scuffed it only.
rkwhite61- how many cans of color coat did it take you to paint your dash?
I am having my dash painted by a friend because I am terrible with a rattle can. I'll post some pics once it comes back..... if it ever comes back. Damn painters.
I'm going to be using colorbond on my dash and interior. Not planning on removing the dash.
