time to upgrade the 6.0 one last time

i got a 99 6.0 with iron heads.. think i am gonna swap to a 243/799 head from what ive read on here. what size cam do you guys recomend going to?? i plan on buying a stall converter and did the 4l80e swap already. also heard alot about nnbs/tbss intake upgrade. what do you guys think i should run top end to give it some more get up and go. and what converter stall to match. i would like to hit 450 maybe 500 hp on the motor. and have a agressive idle.

i got a good deal on a comp 550 ish lift cam and a monster trans converter but it just doesnt cut it. glad i dont have much invested!!

As far as stock casting heads those have good flow. The nnbs intake swap is great with a 90 mm TB. Cam and stall choice go hand in hand. A good combo might be 231/236 with healthy lift and a 3600ish triple disk stall. You will get some big results.

i got a 99 reg cab short bed 4x4. 6.0 swap and 4l80e swap. 410 gears. daily driver. want to really wake thethin up. it goes decent now but could use more. figured top end and cam is where to start. ive heard alo about the nnbs intakes what do they come stock on???

The NNBS intakes come stock on NNBS's. You can get them brand new from Rock Auto for $99+shipping. Cam in the low 230s.

awesome and what throttle body do you guys run on it? any 90 mm? whats the difference between the nbs and nnbs???

Stock throttle body on DBW trucks, holley edelbrock,fast,nic williams all make 90s for the dbc trucks.

Difference between NBS and NNBS. NBS=99-06, 07Classic trucks. NNBS=07-current trucks.

my new setup is a 6.0 l92 heads 230s cam 630s lift, single plane intake 90mm TB and 3600 stall, should do good. Id say to wait and see but its gonna be awhile :lol:

whats the l92 head?? and the difference between that and a 243/799???

Its the head that comes on NNBS 6.0 and 6.2 motors. It has the best flow rates of any LS head. Requires a 4" bore

Its the 6.2 L head, casting number is 823, theyre square port and flow better, you have to change intakes, and sometimes ptv can be an issue.

so i am thinking of getting a 799 head and swapping the comp springs i have onto them. i heard that ls7 lifters and pushrods are a cheap good upgrade. looking into a cam in the 230ish range and with good lift. and a nnbs intake swap with 90 mm throttle body. what do you guys got to add or say about this setup?? also what year and motor do i want a nnbs intake from?? looking a rock auto and need a year and truck and engine to know which one to get. Ls7lifters yes pushrods no. Nnbs intake from a 5.3/4.8.... You can get 799/243 heads off the same truck as the intake.

Yeah I think the LS7 pushrods are 3/8" not 5/16".

ok good to fnd out now!! lol and when swapping to a nnbs intake do all the fuel rails and vacum lines i have now swap over? or is there more to this swp then just buying a intake??

also when doing all of this i need new gasket and head bolts, what are good brands that you guys use?? and what pushrods are a good upgrade for 220 to 230ish duration and 575 to 600 lift cam? and will the comp springs i got for the smaller cam i got now work on a bigger one??? thanks guys
