hello everyone i am going to swap a 5.3 and 4l60e from a 2002 Denali. my truck currently has a 4.3 with a 5 speed that have 265k on them. the trany is in its final days of smoky burn outs. lol i got the motor and trans complete with trans lines, power steering line, fuel lines y pipes with cats tac module and gas pedal for $1,000. does any body know what major hurdles i am going to go thru to get this trans in?
Don't forget to bypass or integrate the clutch switch into ur new setup.
Every project comes with its own hurdles. Most people have difficulty with the wiring. Do your research and you should be ok.
i added to clutch switch to the to do list. i am having a friend take care of the harness and the ecu.
I picked up my adapters today from dirty dingo. i should be able to pick up some more parts later on today.
i had some questions regarding what motor mount to use. do i just get the v8 motor mount?
You will need the V8 frame mounts and cups.
Can someone tell me how the dirty dingo mount go on i am lost here. I have the v8 motor mounts and the brackets.
Get the sbc to ls1 dirty dingo mounts, then get some V8 motor mounts for ur body body style for the dingo mounts to bolt on to
The dirty dingo mounts to the v8 frame mounts.You don't need the cups that bolt to the sbc motor.The arrows on the dirty dingo mounts point towards the front of the motor.On mine from the back of the motor where the bellhousing bolts to the back of the dingo mount where it bolts to the frame mount measurement was 14 in.I hope that helps.
does the slip yoke from a 700r tranny fit the 4l60e transmission.
I have swapped them several times and they have alway's fit just fine.

Hey guys i finally went to start my truck and it fires up for about 3 seconds then shuts off. Could this be the vats? i checked the fuel pump relay with a test light and it get power then shuts off. Any ideas what this could be?
That sound's like Vat's to me.
Well i got the vats disabled and its runs for a little bit longer but it still dies. Any ideas what it can be?
Might have a ground unhooked or something
Can you tell me what motor mounts you used that bolt through the crossmember? I am doing a 94' 4.3 to 5.3 conversion and have removed the engine and tranny with frame mounts today. I just need to figure out what frame mounts I need to put the dirty dingos too so I can press forward with project. Also, sound like you have made good progress and good luck with getting it to run.
I converted my truck to v8 motors mounts. It was a pain in the ass and i just used stock 350 mounts. Hope that helps i finally got it running just havent had time to work on it some more. Good luck on your swap
Thanks, I got the whole motor mount thing squared away. It was extremely hard to find the factory replacements that bolt to the crossmember. With that taken care of I moved on to other things. How about your project? By got it "running", can you drive it now or does it still need some attention? What did it turn out to be that would not let it run for very long. I only ask for future reference just in case I run into something similar next weekend when I drop mine in. Good luck as well with your just about finished swap.Quote:
