12's ...... never gonna happen in an ecsb 4.8!
Maybe he needs a trinity tune like that other new guy on here.
Trinity tune would get him in the right direction lol
mabe i just need a helpfull answer, what are the limits of the 4.8, also either one of yall running nitrous?
or do a 8.1 swap like this famous kid on here lol
http://www.ls1truck.com/forums/lsx-t...8-1l-swap.html
but max shot i would say 150 tuned but their are ppl on here throwing 200+ on stock bottom ends with some 4 leaf clovers in them somewhere. cough cough G cough
might take gears, tires, cam, stall, longtubes to meet ur goal
I never suggest going over 100 shot on stock motors. It's a good starting point. But turbo is much better. Tell ur dad to go boost. Even sts is better than the bottle. :) have fun
Limits of the 4.8 are dependant on multiple factors. With twins you could get 1200 HP as proven by a magazine (name escapes me). As for N20, I would feel safe on a 100 shot nozzle, 150 with a spot on tune, and maybe 200-250 on a direct port setup with its own fuel supply and a good tune. All that said, I'm not spraying but I intend to in the near future while I'm building another engine for forced induction. Do some research and plan what you want to do. Just remember, you can only have two of the following: fast, cheap, and reliable.
thank you for the good answers, i have tried to get him to go turbo but he likes the cheaper price of nitrous better, is there any cheaper front mount turbo kits out there, sorry for all the q's but i own a stang and all my searching is on those, altho im a ls fan
Cheapest front mount I've seen was around 2200-2500.
Remember you can get a Turbo kit for 3k but the supporting mods will cost you far more.
Refilling a bottle every weekend adds up... if you do it once every two weeks, that's around1000$ a year. A good nitrous kit is going to run you 500-600... it all adds up.
N20 up here is 5.50 per pound. I can see how it adds up quick.
4.10 a lb here :). 12s without some help are far fetched hopes. Stall, gears, longtubes, and a 150 shot might get you there. I'd ditch the tb spacer and atleast get a nossle in the intake. Give you a little
Safety. These guys make nitrous sound so bad. I ran it for years and was happy. The failures I had where my fault not the nitrous or kit. I run boost now and make more power than I ever have. But the bottle was more fun to me. Each to his own
Oh I have no problem running it. I rather enjoy it.
Nitrous is not the cheap answer, between the kits that ive bought and bottle fills I could have a nice front mount kit. But I love nitrous and will always run it. Yes you can buy a little cheap kit to get you started, but the more nitrous you spray the better kit youre gonna need.
