Finally.... Tried a SRT-10

This past weekend when I got up town to ride the strip with my g/f, I was in my jeep just chillin out crusin around when I saw a SRT-10 (red) sitting up in a parking lot so I came swingin up in there and it was a young boy drivin it and when kind waved at him he turned his head. Well that kind of pissed me off and I tore out went back to my house and got my truck to go back up town in, as soon as I got back up town I was pulling out of a parkin lot as he was pulling in and I caught second right in his window just creeping it out and I laughed. Well saw him again bought that time I heard one of his friends yell "GO GET HIM" and ol boy got up on my back bumper and piped me, well when he did that I was like its on now. I slowed down a good bet and let some room get up in front of me and I was running about 40 mph and heard him hit it again, well I dropped it down in 3rd and stomped it my truck broke loose and kind of hung out to the side and I just drove it out. After that ol Boy wouldn't even pull in after at are turn around spot instead he went around the block went back up to were his friends were at and stayed there the rest of the night. I thought it would be a good race if he was a decent driver but ooo well don't need to be getting into anymore trouble anyways street racing. But I thought the ol boy wouldnt punk out like that thought it was funny had to share it with yall. :lol:

I drove one of those things before and they are really nice trucks, but to the average guy is still just a 1500 RAM. Any good ol' hoped up LS1 silverado will skull dragged it up and down the road. I think a lightning is better challenge. Good kill thought man, if you can call it that.

i thought the srt out-performed the lightning in every aspect....1/4, handling, the whole 9 yards. i would still take the lightning over a srt anyday though. someone should explain to the srt drivers what an ass pounding they took at the dealorship :laugh:

i guess if i had that kinda dough to throw around i wouldnt think like that. im jellous :flipoff:

Read that thread, you can get them for mid to upper $40s out the door... far less used. To get an SS into the mid 12 it'll cost you big time cash just like a Lightning. Neither will have a warranty.

You'll be shocked at what full length headers add power wise and how rich the stock tune it, it's awful. It's an excellent truck. Ther 8.3L heads flow around "Stage 2" Ported 8.0s, etc.

Haa............... My bad I was not meaning that it was a kill or anything because we didn't race. But I did think it was funny how he tried me and I smoked the tires down running about 40 mph and he wouldn't even follow me no more or even pipe me, after he saw that lil procharger get off in front of him. I would like to race one thoough because I believe my numbers and the SRT-10's are close in hp. I been hoping that he would come back to town soon or me and a couple of friends with some lightnings (one runs high 6"s with no cage and full interior) might half to ease drop in his town give him another another lesson on what happens when you pipe people.

From what I hear from the blue oval guys, the Lightings and the Cobra R's Super Chargers arent worth it. Even been said to me from a few guys that have owned lightings that they would want to by an SS and supercharge that and be plenty happy. (with the right "nelson tune" the supercharged ss will out run the lighting. Once again ford falling to the back of the pack.

1. Chevy SS Silverado
2. Dodge SRT-10
3. Ford (pos) Lighting.

Yeah....... I sure wouldn't be caught dead driving a Ford for my hot rod. But when you have friends that can spend about $1000.00 on one and have a low 8.sec, or even high 7.sec. truck (in the 1/8). It's hard to beat them and there transmissions can take it better than my 4L60 ever thought about. One friend has his running 6.80-90's with full interior on slicks, and 2 more have there's running high 7's with few mods. And by the way saw were SRT-10 made around 375 RWHP from the factory, which was less than I thought.

I've seen many dynos they show a hell of a lot more than 375rwhp.

OOOO......Well I was just going off of an article were PAXTON just made a kit for the SRT-10. Stock SRT-10 with Magnaflows they claimed made 375 RWHP, and after they installed there supercharger and tuned it made a lil over 500 RWHP. And it ran mid 13. at lil over 100 MPH in the quarter. I was just going with what PAXTON claimed, I was not tryin to step on your toes or nothing. I to thought that was pretty low, I figured low to mid 400 HP. Heck I like just to see one run at the track to see about what they run in 1/8 and 1/4.

Most can't get below a 2.2 60' time so they run low 13s at upper 100mph times for the RC, QCs are heavier but launch better... those run low 100mph times usually for mid-upper 13s.

You can get almost 500rwhp with stock heads/stock cam on that thing with a full exhaust, tune, and an intake.

Where do yall find those avatars??? There is a silver QC SRT-10 in Vidor that a Constable drives for his cruiser and he tries to get people to race him and then pulls them over. I almost messed up and got into a race with him untill i noticed his license plate said exemped on it. I know i would have gotten stomped but it would have been fun. As for SRT-10s being so bad ass im not impressed. It takes dodge 8.3 liters to accoplish what chevrolet does with 7.0. if you were to drop the new 06' ZO6 motor in an ecsb chevrolet it would stomp the piss out of any srt-10. The only thing that is so wonderfull about an srt-10 is the displacement. If it didnt have that it wouldnt be shit. Ill take my VHO any day. :burnout:

The 7.0 LS7 is down 55 lb/ft of torque to the V-10.
I love your B4V truck. I would love 1 if they were available in a rcsb variant. The new Vortec Max package is also nice. I like the fact that it has the 4l70e and the 14 bolt.
In 2004 the B4V VHO trucks came with the 4l65e and a 10 bolt rear end. I wonder what the warranty rate was on those rear ends?? Theoretically a 2004 B4V "Texas Truck" should be the quickest truck GM has made so far. I say this because it has the lighter 10 bolt vs. the14 bolt. The 05 and up B4V's and the 2wd SS Silvy andthe AWD Silvy are all pretty close.
It would be nice to get a 6.0L truck that accidentaly had a Trailblazer I-6 TC installed in it.

I have an S-10 V6 TC in my Vortec 350 rcsb truck. Its a comparable mod in my OBS truck to the Trailblazer TC swap in the newer trucks. My L35 V6 TC stalls up to 2600 rpm. Less rpm drop at teh shifts ande better launches froma dig.

I really like the rear leaf spring suspension on the SRT-10 Ram trucks, it has a rubber snubber that contacts the upper spring pack kinda like a slapper bar. It should help wheelhop a little bit. Anything to keep that rear end from twisting under torque is a good thing. I would like to do something like that in my truck. I think I will try the mod where you clamp down the upper leaf soring pack to the lower larger helper spring. Wheelhop sucks.

Yo Hitman, I got close to getting one not too long ago also. Had the dealer down to $40500 on a brand new black 05 quad cab, but I couldn't talk the wife into letting me get it (I know that sounds pathetic). :wave:
