Yeah for sure. That is why even an LS6 cam which is so small by most standards still gives a decent bump. It's too bad we don't have a factory option for something badazz like a 212/218 low lift cam. It is interesting to note that the RAM Hemi trucks come with a much larger cam from the factory. They are over 200 duration and closer to .500 lift if I remember right.
Im going with a 219\233 .557 .553 109lsa bumpstick. Nice n choppy, bout a 2000-6800 rpm range. Just waiting to finish a set of heads to go with it. Pnp 862s with .600 springs new valves n 1.7 rockers. Any guesses on hp gain from that? Oh and a 3200ish stall n 4.10s also.
That is a kinda odd cam, but I think it may work great. With that split it will prolly love the spray. I think you will definitely need a good stall. As for the gains you can expect anywhere from 60-80hp bump.
U been reading my mind bro.....spray is planned in future. Its a thumpr cam, originally for a camaro/vette ls1, but it actually works really well in the lil 4.8..... I believe chevrolade actually had one once, not sure. As far as stall yeah im planning on a circle d 3200 -3600. Truck is still my DD and will be.
I have actually heard its not a very good cam and that it requires a very good size stall. If you have a stall I am sure it will work out fine, especially if you got a good pirce on it.
Get a custom grind cam. Off the self cams dont net as good of a gain as a cam spec'd for your exact application.
I have the thumpr cam. I like it despite all the bad people talk about it. I have a 3000-3200 stall prolly should have gone a little higher from what my brother says. When I drove it last it had factory TC. It pulls to about 7200 and breaks both tires loose at 45 + Chris@lsxps did a great job of tuning it. pulled an extra 20 hp and like 30 tq more than the tune from speedtek. And it loves the 4.10s
I would say 4.30 or 4.56 gear
Sounds like a good setup. When I was building my engine I was trying to decide on the cam. Wanted a nice chop but nothing extreme. So I went with the 112lsa. After hearing all the 109 and 110lsa cams now I want one! Plan on swapping the 243 heads back on so maybe while I'm doing that I'll change the cam.
