01 ECSB 5.3 to 6.0 swap
New to the forum, my name is Kody. I'm sure many of you have read similiar posts. Please forgive my noobness. Anyhow, I have a 2001 Z71 with the 5.3, I found myself a sweet deal on a 6.0 out of a 04 silverado. SO here are my questions, the 6.0 is coming short of its alternator, power steering pump, and water pump. Will these swap over from the 5.3? I believe so, IMO but just need confirmation. I've also read something about the flexplate needing to be switched over? I have a built 4l65e from monster transmission. And what about the intake manifold? something about return fuel lines? Keep the intake off the 5.3? Thanks in advance everyone.

It will all work, use the 5.3 flex plate. all accessories will work use the 5.3 intake throttle body and fuel rails.
Now do research and read, read, read.
If you joined this month then there is no way you read every swap thread. Your answers are all here you just have to look.

Where in California are you located?

Not to far, Im in Tracy are you going to do any performance upgrades?
-
I was considering it since I got such a good deal on the motor itself. Just not to sure what would be the most bang for my buck. Any suggestions?
-
Good tune and a stall are by far the best bang for your buck mods in these trucks.
-
mostly depends on budget, but at least get a nelson tune, then stall, then gears, ect.
-
I know I will be getting it tuned for sure, read that it will run off the tune of the 5.3, but would much rAther enjoy the full performance of the 6.0. The truck has a
6 inch lift and 2 inch body on it, I believe it's already been re-geared to 4:10. But not positive seething to look into. I was thinking a pair of shorty headers but heard that there isn't much gain over stock exhaust manifolds.

Oh and when I got the monster tranny it came
With a 2600 stall

Alrighty, so just an update im gonna throw out there. I began my swap 3 days ago, taking my time and being extra careful to remember, (take pics) of everything. Only major hangups I had were the exhaust nuts on the flange, I figured they would be rusted on and sure as shit were. Broke 3 harbor freight extensions, (thankfully they exchange them for free). The torque converter bolts that hold it to the driveplate were also a royal PITA. Eventually I got them out by running a 24" extension between the motor mount and down the side of the block along with a breaker bar and was finally able to crack them loose. After I had my hoist hooked up and everything free the damn dowel pins between the motor and trans were stuck (figures) after 3 hours of effin around finally got the old motor out. I left it on a pallet in my front yard for the evening, (new neighbors that moved in today must think they just moved into redneck land.) MUAHAHAHA

Everything is put back together, swap went extremely well, now just waiting for my blackbear tune from justin, and my efan wiring harness. =) Sounds awesome even running off of the tune for the 5.3!!!
