Upper water pipe? The steam vent that goes from head to head? If so, two little hex bolts on each head hold the fittings down.
Or are you talking about the upper pipe on the water pump?
Sorry, should have been clearer...the upper pipe to water pump. Thanks
IS that the one going to your heater core.
No...it goes to the radiator (pipe in picture)
Im pretty sure they are pressed in, why do you want to do to it and why?
i turned mine to clear a re-located a/c compressor. i just used a propane torch to heat the aluminum. it got very loose, would have pulled out easily. id imagine you could heat back up to put back in. you can barely see it in this pic, its pointed straight forward now

If nothing else, maybe cut and bead roll the existing pipe the use a mandrel bent pipe connect with hose and clamps. Unless you're going for the clean look of a well made turnaround pipe
Look at turn key engine supply. Their water pump fitting comes out the front and has a cap of some sort where the pipe is. Don't know how they do it but it might give you an idea.
you can use an fbody waterpump with spacers between it and the block to get the alignment back to the pullies.
you can heat it up and turn it, it should seal up just fine. if not rub a little silicone around it and slide it back in, BAM!
No leaks on mine, no sealer
