Vague info. But doubt it
+1 which engine, what year, do u have stock fuel pump, etc. but even if everything stock, pump etc. should b fine, just let ur tuner know all ur specs
My bad.. well the shop where I get my tune from said that if I do the cam swap.. then I will need better injectors...I've seen a lot of other cam swap threads tht don't say anything about changing injectors.. so I got confused :/
04 Silverado 5.3.. fuel system is stock
What mods and such. Give us a run down so we can help. A cam only no need but depending on what bolt ons and such things can change
2004 Silverado 5.3.. k&n intake, pacesetter longtubes and 3" y pipe , magnaflow 2.5" 1 in 2 out,efans,vette servo and tune. Thanks guys
I would say ur fine that's a pretty mild cam and good bolt ons don't think any need for bigger injectors. One way to find out is cam it. Then scan it to check ur injector values
Ok .. how will my truck run without a tune for the cam? I kno I won't get the full benefit till I get the retune but I'm asking because Im doin the swap with some buddies and it mite be a day or 2 at most till it sees my tuner
It won't want to idle very well on its own, and you'll be two footing it at every light, but it should run well enough to get you around for a day or two. Just don't try to lay into it at all before you get the tune.
itll be fine no wot pulls
That's a pretty similar cam to what bangbangskeetskeet has minus some lift and he was maxing his injectors at high rpm. He got a new fuel pump and problem solved. I will say its not apples to apples since trav has like a billion miles and I am sure the pump was well worn. Just might want to plan on some kind of upgrade since with time you will prolly need some fuel upgrades. After you get the cam you know you will want something more.
i think you need some nice 80lb injectors... and i think i might have seen some for sale on here too! :D
Find injectors from an 04-06 flex fuel truck. Look for square fuel rails. They're 34 pounders and will be enough, if stockers aren't.
07+ Flex fuel trucks use a 30# injector and up the fuel pressure when e-85 is used.
Direct swap.
my truck came with 39lb'ers. Someone on hpt is selling LS3 injectors, but he is asking too much. You might be able to "unspecified religion" him down.
we do cam only swaps often with stock injectors. with your cam specs you will be fine.
and as far as the no-tune, itll run, just not well. and like everybody else has said, no WOT passes!
