Ok so i searched, didnt find any threads with the same issue, ive checked the fuses and the bulbs all good, the running lights and signals work, just no brake/reverse lights, honestly i could care less about reverse lights but no brake lights keeps my eyes peeled to the rearview. Any ideas.
Probably an electrical gremlin! :D lol. I got nothin. Good luck on tracking it down though.

Not sure how the wiring is goin back to those but are the rear running light operational? If not maybe there's a bad connector after the cab. Have you checked voltage at the bulbs?
My son had the same type issue with his Olds Bravada...turned out it was the multifunction switch on the steering column (the one that runs the cruise and wipers)...go figure! He had no main brake lights (third light worked fine) and no reverse lights. But the tail lights would be lit when the headlights were on, and then go out when he stepped on the brake. Had the switch replaced and no problems since. Just a thought...

Hey G, i had a similar issue on my old 98 after the swap, when i pressed my brake pedal the brake lights would go out and when my foot was off the pedal they appeared to be on. mine was a ground under the fuse block. hope this helps. Goodluck

Did you ever get this figured out? I have the SAME exact problem in my 6.0 swap. No brake lights or reverse, but I have tail lights and blinkers and a third brake light that work.
For some reason its slipping my mind right now and I cant remember when I doo ill post up.

With the swap I'm thinking maybe the Tcc/ brake switch wire.
Mine was doing the same thing. In my case I accidentally cut the wire for the brake lights when I replaced the fuel pump. I just spliced into it under the cab and ran a wire all the way to the block under the back of the truck. Ill fix it correctly next time I have the bed off or drop the tank.
X2 on that! Im about to get pissed off at my 94 for this exact problem. The third light works like a champ and the turn signals do too. Idk about the running lights cutting off yet but I have no brake lights... if anybody has a solution... I need it!! Oh and the only wire I cut that had anything to do with the brake lights was the brake signal wire to the pcm.Quote:
