are you looking for a bolt in or weld in notch?
Either. The key is price. I can weld it in with no problem and was planning to weld a bolt in for the extra strength. I do tow a 17" enclosed trailer occasionally and every once in a while a 30' travel trailer so I need the strength. Some notches can be had for 69$ but I am a little scared of those.
I forgot to mention my truck is a RCSB 99 model.
as long as they're not too thin of metal & you weld it up good you should be fine with just about any notch. most places sell the notches in pieces
i know mike at dallas hot rod parts sells several different size notches. suicide doors sells a few different sizes also, & Nfamus sells them already welded together & you can cut them down to the size you need.
I have seen a bunch of different ones. I just don't understand why the mcgaughys 33007 is so dam expensive compared to the 69 dollar ones.
yeah, they're really proud of that notch, lol!!! most bolt in notches are more expensive then weld in notch's. that one is also made for the curve/bend in your year truck, where as most weld in notch's are just straight.
I would prefer the mcgaughys 33007 notch if anyone has one used. I can justify used a lot more easily to my wife.
i'll keep an eye open for you.
i think DJM also makes a bolt in notch for your truck.
Djm does have one, just looked it up. About 135 at stylin trucks
Thanks for keeping an eye out. I'd probably go with either of the two.
I have a used set of DJM notches. Dunno what it'd cost to get'm to you tho. They dont weigh a whole bunch.
This may be perfect... about 110 from summitracing...

Where were you finding them for 69 though?
I read bolt in is better, because the frame is tempered and heating it up messes with its integrity...
They were on some website. 69 is too cheap and you usually get what you pay for. I hope that the link you posted is what 99lives has and he is willing to take a fair price for it because I prefer used as I am a cheap skate.
I would rather have the one in the link below but I refuse to pay that much.

I picked up a set of the DJM's as well. I just need to take some time off work to install them. Cuttign the fram kinda gives me the willy's
Sorry I haven't been on in a while, zeake. Those are exactly like the ones I have, just a tad more dirty, ha.
You gotcha a PM, mayne.
Pm replied. I knew you'd be back eventually. Thanks
I need to find someone to cut my frame to install the one I'm ordering, all my friends with tools want nothing to do with doing that
Anyone willing/able to do it within about 2-3 hours from dfw?
99 lives, so those djm ones work well? They look a bit slim to me. Is the link just like them? Notch is last part left in my 4/6 to be ordered
Yeah, they do a good job for being manufactured, ha. I personally like to fab my own & weld everything. Thats just my .02, though, ha.
These do their job well.
Got em today. Thanks 99 lives.
Think you can take some pics and do a small write up?
Right on, Jake. Glad to be able to help. You should be able to do them in an evening. Thanks again, man.
Sucks I'm not any closer to you, endless, I could help ya out, ha.
Next time I'm at my friends place, I'll try to remember to shoot a few pix of the notch I built for his '81 Chevy dually.
The mcg one that I think I posted went on Saturday and its definitely top notch... pun kinda intended
