I've had quite a few friends in the cedar park area have some close calls. They are all ok.
Yeah man we need some rain badly, I was welding on my fence this weekend and nearly started a fire 20 times at least.
I even had 400 feet of water hose with a sprayer on the end to pre-wet the areas and fight any small fires that came up.
Finally I just said screw it and gave up.
We had 2 fires yesterday in the Stone Oak area as well. It was all open area and it was put out before any real damage was done.
How big are these wildfires you guys are getting?
my boss was evacuated from his house in magnolia. he just keeps calling his house and hoping that his answer machine picks up.
little cold front is sparking it all up
Had some fires right down the road on 183. Looks like 20 or so people lost their homes.
Several have popped up in east texas
Come to AZ and talk about wildfires. Thats NOTHING compared to the fires we have seen this year. Not saying that any wildfire is less dangerous than another or anything like that, but we have had some of the worst ever.
Just this year we have had one fire that burned 538,049 acres....thats ~840 square miles...and a second that burned 222,954 acres...thats ~348 square miles.
In 2002 we also had one that burned 468,638 acres...~732 square miles.
We had three here around Paris and Pattonville yesterday. Small ones like 20-30 acres burned by each. However, that is a daily basis around here lately.
A good friend's grandmother and parents home burnt today in north east Texas.
Yea, we have not had any large uncontainable fires yet. Unfortunately they have claimed several homes and farms before being put out. My grandparents live on a little under 100 acres on 271. Their neighbors paster burnt last month and almost got the neighbors house. My granddad ruined two tractor tires spraying water out of his pesticide/fertilizer rig around the neighbors house and barn. Around here when a fire breaks out all the neighbors for 10mi go running to help.
There are 4 kids in Leander/Cedar Park who now have warrants out after witnesses said the saw them starting fires. What I don't understand is why the witnesses did nothing.
The air here stinks. I feel terrible for the people that lost there homes.
Some of these awesome people need to start disposing of there cancer sticks properly.
The wind has died down today so hopefully they can get the Bastrop fire contained. I've got a headache already today from being at work and nothing but a smokey haze is in the air. Some people in this world just sit back and do nothing, I don't understand it either.
They caught a guy yesterday setting fires here. He was a 62 year old white male according to the paper. No name released yet. They think he might be responsible for fires up to 30mi away from here.
Just found out that one of Kurt's coworkers lost his life Monday in the fire in Bastrop.

My condolences to his family. A house one street over from me is on fire. Guess he threw his cigarette in the yard and lit his place up, hope it doesn't spread...
my jerkoff brother lives like a few thousand feet from some of this havoc.. Guess he didnt get hurt though.
A whole new set of fires started about 10ish miles outside of Boerne by Fair Oaks. (Near San Antonio)
there was a fire off i35 right in san antonio,we need rain bad
We had another arsonist today in Paris, that got caught. That makes two this week. My step uncles house burnt today while him and his wife were at work. Unfortunately one of there dogs was in the house. We are going to go and see what is left in a couple minutes. I have not seen it yet but the fire department said it was a total loss.
Wow this is crazy funny to think you guys are prolly hoping a hurricane comes and pours some rain on you. Fires are a big sad event.
One of my best friends lives in Austin and he's been giving me updates. So sorry to hear this is going on down in Texas. My prayers are with all of you who are affected.
