Next Modification?

I really have no idea what I should do next to my truck performance wise.. Currently, I have a K&N CAI, Magnaflow Exhaust w/ cat delete, and a EFILive Tune. The tuner told me that it was best if I put it a Z06 Cam to help the top-end for the gear shifts, and a Trailblazer converter along with 4.10 gears. I'm not looking for anything drastic in performance, just something that it performs a little better. I've been looking at the Pacesetter long tube headers, UD Pulleys, and those vette servos that I was supposed to have bought already, haha. Easiest and Cheapest being first because I don't make a lot of money, insurance is high, and I don't have many tools/time to do major modification..

gears and converter 1st.

Maybe the TB Converter will stall 24-2600rpm.

For the price you can get a nice Circle D around 2800-3000stall

also get a BIG transcooler

I have some people that can get me a trailblazer converter for little over $100, but I would really like to get a Circle D since I know many people with them on here. I'll update the first post with a list.

i have a tb stall and 03 z06 cam

i would do the trans stuff first

That would be the most noticeable for the money I believe.

I've heard many people use B&M transcoolers, and found some kits. Although for gears, I have no idea what brand would be best. I came across Motive Gears which has a 4.10 Ring & Pinion for $189. What would you guys recommend as far as these two go?

Thanks for the links! Both of my tires spin evenly, but would that change if I have the new ring and pinion? This is regarding the locker..

Its crazy i gained 81 rwhp with cam headers and tune, i know its not right but it felt faster when all i did was a gear swap while it was still stock:lol:

Nope.

Either you have a G80 Posi, or a worn out Spider gear pin that locks both wheels...LOL

Not Crazy....I felt mine faster with the converter than with the Head swap !!!!

How would I identify if it was a G80?

Why would it be better to choose the TC with a different stall speed before he chooses a cam, i thought the tc was matched to the cam?

I wouldn't exactly say the stall needed to be picked first, but most definitely done first. I think the decision should be a mutual thing though. Pick something out that will work together nicely, then do the stall first.

That and 99% of cams require a higher stall. Even a stock cam reacts better with one. Cam/heads are a more important combo in my opinion then cam/stall. Stall should be based on if he tows, percent of highway vs city, etc.

I think you can't go wrong in the 2800-3200 range.

After that is pure race, and b4 is just playing with yourself !!!

Its my daily driver and in my town speed limit is 45-55 constant.. I don't tow anything, and if I did I would use the f250..

The thing is although the speed limit is 45-55, we have about 50 redlights and stop signs here, so I don't want to put too much pressure on the trans. I've been searching around and around for a 6.0.. Can't afford it right now, and would rather start learning a bit by putting stuff on the 5.3..

I'm getting $425 whenever I'm finished helping my friend do his engine swap.. I've really been considering headers, but I still want a stall.. Like I stated before, I've got 155k miles on the truck, would a converter wreck my transmission or would I be safe? I'm looking into the 3-3200 stall..

Converter or gears will give you the best ass dyno results. A nice quality unit won't hurt your trans. Or you know, you could spray it.

I've seen a video of a truck with a stall and man that thing shifted fast and barely dropped RPM's.. Gears and all that under $150 stuff I can get with my paycheck, but nothing else because I suck at saving money.. So I'm most likely gonna end up buying a 3-3200 Circle-D stall..

I'd do stall, I did gears(4:10) and they helped but until 2500+rpm this fat thing doesnt wanna go. I spray a 75 shot to help get it going..its fun but still need a stall.
Edit: I'd spray more but need to get it re-tuned first. Do a Stall and some NX!!
