new guys blazer build
been browsing the site gathering info for my swap, figured i would finally join to show the progress and ask some questions.
Attachment 4184
bought this 94 blazer intending to update the engine. i always liked the 2 doors and finally made an offer and scored her from a friend for $800. got her running in a weekend after sitting for 3yrs, but shes pretty tired w/ 282k on the original engine.
Attachment 4185
this is gonna be the new heart. its an 03 lm7 w/ just under 100k on it. engine will remain stock except for an exhaust, cold air, egr delete and e-fans. all im waiting on now is current performance to finish the harness and pcm. im going to tackle the swap in one weekend so i need to make sure i have everything i need to make it go.
for now im not going to run a/c, once all the bugs are worked out i will add it on. does anyone have a link or email for the guy selling brackets to run the stock compressor? i also need to know what throttle cable to use. am i better off using the lokar? if so what lenght? or are there other options? i see nbs, f body and s10 cables mentioned but nothing confirmed. thanks for the help, ill be sure to update as things get rolling.

looks like a good start to your project, go to the conversions section and the info is endless for your swap

Thanks, I'm hoping to have a solid truck for cheap once everything is done. I've literally searched for hrs an cannot find the specifics I'm looking for. Also need to know which side of the flywheel the spacer needs to go on for a 5.3 flywheel. Any help appreciated
-
Novak Conversions has the best AC bracket setup I've seen so far. My spacer went between the flywheel and crank. I cant help with throttle cables though, mine was drive by wire.
-
1998 Silverado 5.7L V8 throttle cable will work just fine.
-
thanks and thanks. that novak bracket does look good, that sure is a lot of coinage though. ive read a couple posts of guys modifying their stock tbi bracket to work, i may try that route.
-
I've read where people have called Novak and ordered the bracket kit without the compressor for $300, Thats what I paid for an alternate kit that I am less than happy with, If funding permits this summer I'll be contacting Novak for an upgrade.

good luck, you will have your hands full trying to do this on one weekend. I would say two weekends and tinkering through the week, too.
-
Haha, it's gonna be a challenge. I'm really just gonna get it in and running, then drive home to wire gauges and make the exhaust etc. Having access to a shop w a lift is a huge bonus and I'm gonna have a few extra set of hands helping. Gotta dream big right
-
dude, 800 bucks for that rig? what an awesome deal!
cool man, look forward to seeing some pics and stuff.
2 doors rule lol

f body efans on(still need to paint the brackets)
Attachment 4617
so happy with the exhaust sound, its exactly what i wanted not too loud but super deep. i really think the 3.5in helped bring the tone lower, just need to finish it out the back. (ignore the rust..it will get por eventually)
Attachment 4618
i still have a huge to do list
1. get gauges to work(only have a volt meter:))
2. find out why the torque convertor is not locking up
3. wire up efans properly
4. do all the stuff im forgeting haha

Cool swap.. You did it quick thats for sure..
-
Thanks, felt like I set a speed record for actual swap.....then took forever to finish all the details. I've got lots of new pics, I'll post em shortly
-
Nice and you dont have a ton of money tied up in it
-
Sadly I could have spent less if I had done more research, but I'm still happy with it. Doing all the work myself saved the most.
-
Did you end up using the old 350's A/C bracket? It sure looks like it. did it bolt right up? Also, are you using both ecms or only the new one? Can't wait to get my swap started.
-
Thats awesome, great work.
You did everything yourself, no help at all? Hmmm, I'm wondering if I could do mine in a weekend.
Love the truck maN, great job.
Lets see more pics:)
-
I'd like more info on bolting up the bracket from the 350, I am going to do the swap soon on a1994 model 4.3 truck, I think all the accessory brackets on a 4.3 are the same as a 350, defnitely give some more details on that bracket if you would. Nice job !
-
jus found my own thread, truck is taking a turn for the worse....

once all this crap is done gonna add longtubes and a cam and have it tuned. cant help but have evil thoughts of a 4bt re-swap though.....

Could you send me some details on how you modified the ac bracket to work? I would really really appreciate it... im going to be trying this swap very soon
