newbie from austin area...embarrassed at SAR...looking to get serious now!

ok so i have a pro street 86 chevy swb,5.4/4l60e...alllll stock,9in/3.73 gears...just wanted to see what she would do on the track..only ran 15.03,she was slow,but she was consistantly slow! here's the deal,i've got a 6.0L sitting on the ground..any reccomendations? i'm thinking cam/spring sway,mill heads,converter,right now i have a truck intake,either ls1 intake or fast intake? i'm not scared to run sum nos for sum lower times...also what about a tune? i'll yank the 5.3 for a 6liter real quick...i just need some insight on where to spend the money,thanks..glad to be part of the gang!

the only issues i had was that she was slow..!! she did break an axle on the last run... she was still slow..she deserves better..and thats whats she's gonna get..even if it takes shoving sum nos down her throat!!! :tacos:

what headers are you using?

Welcome to the site and I like your truck, it looks good.

I would definitely say build the 6.0 up and boost it.

Could even make it a 408 and boost it.

Do some searching around on her and I'm sure you will find some builds/ideas.

whats the way to go..have a 5.3 in the truck now,have a 6.0 sitting on the ground and have 2 ls1's also on the ground...decissions/decissions..everything bone stock...ready to get into sum low 12's at least...nuthing but money!

i think you can hit 12 with any of those motors you have, but since you have a 6.0L id go that route.

Whats the truck wiegh? Low 4k area? A heads/cam/stall 6.0 can hit that pretty easily with that weight. Hell, a 5.3 could do it too. But if you have the option of more cubes for the same money... Well... that's just obvious.

Just remember if your willing to go for 12 secs you will prolly decide you want 11 or 10 secs later on so go with the 6.0 from the beginning instead of waiting until you want it down the road. once again 6.0 and boost FTW!
