RevMax Torque Converters: Cheap pricing

I just got off the phone with revmax. I was interested in them because I'm broke right now and I need to get a cheap stall to complete my 4l80e swap. I asked about their stage 3 4l80e ($335 w/shipping) verter that they have listed on Ebay. THey said that particular one would burn up with the amount of power/weight I have within 6 months so they suggested I go with their level 5 Converter. I was intending to buy a cheapo verter till it burns out till I could afford a Circle D or a Yank but guess what? The guy says the Stage 5 is the same manufacturer of the Yank and that they are virtually identical.
Revmax stage 5=$725+$35 shipping
Yank =$900 to 925+shipping

Hmm, if the guy isn't "Yanking" my chain I think that's a pretty damn good deal. Plus they come with a 2 year warranty. Anybody else run these verters?

Yep, got one of there level 2 in my 1/2 ton 4l60e. It supposed to stall around 2800, I havn't seen quite that, but otherwise no complaints. Its basically a reflashed 12" stock verter. Its a nice little bump in performance. Nothing like what your talking about though.

My opinion when you get told a cheaper product is made by another high end company it's bs. Chinese knock-offs are notorious for this.

You get what you pay for. If a converter goes out, the trans is probably going with it.

what kind of warrenty comes with? ive went the cheaper route before and been screwed not saying this product is bad but i went with circle d for a reason and ended up very pleased with my choice

Why don't you use a stock tq conv until you can afford to get the circle d you want?

The gay at Revmax stated that his converters were manufactured at the same company who manufactures yank. I don't know if that's bs or not. but the guy said If I could find a difference between yank and revmax other than the name he would give me a refund.

I thought about it but the stock verter had black oil in it and I just cleaned my trans out pretty damn good so I didn't want to get that crap back in there again. I dunno, I heard you can have the verters flushed but that's, what, $80 bucks or so?

Call Yank and see what they say about that, ask them what company, then ask Rev what company makes the converter.

im pretty sure yank makes their own converters in house. i know for a fact that circle-d makes their converters in house. Chris at C-D may be able to answer the question.

That was a good idea Allen. I don't know why I didn't think of that. Probably all the carb cleaner fumes lately. I think I've ruled Yank out though because after researching their warranty, "non stock tuning" to a pcm will void the their warranty.

Screw that. Who in their right mind would put a high performance $1000k stall speed in a vehicle that has stock tuning and torque management. That is bs. I'm sure they make a great product as many have suggested but If they are unwilling to stand behind their verters if it fails because somebody has a tune (which I'm assuming most people who buy them do) I think I'll go elsewhere. Unless the rest of the torque converters I'm researching (Edge, Revmax, Circle D, Hughes, The Converter Shop and PI)have some fineprint I haven't found, Yank seems to be the only high-end converter with this policy.


Anybody here use edge? I like there renewable warranty. You pay $90 every 13 months and send the verter in to be "cut and clean" and you will never fall out of warranty

yep..dont go cheap on a converter...go stock untill you can afford a after market one...converter goes and it does take the tranny with it.

Gave Chris a call. Just like I thought from what alot of you guys said he is a very cool and informative guy. I guess they have a 2 year warranty. I'm probably gonna go with their 258 mm triple disk verter

JUst installed this in a 60e, gotta say it is a great product from looks to performance, you wont be disappointed i say do it :)

I've got a Circle D and love it. It's taken a beating and never missed a beat. Love it.
