Do you use any brackets to support the weight of that turbo?
lol, ya, 1/4 plate from the head. you can see it on the 3rd pic.
What kind of boost is this set up going to make? Why the hot pipe across the front instead of looped down under the engine, besides being easy?
Not sure on the boost, it's a 408, so whatever the customer wants.
The thing with a large , overdone turbo is, less back pressure, more timing, more flow.
The front cross over fits nice and easier than going under, and leaves a lot of room for a large downpipe.
The big turbo wasn't chosen for it's power potential, even though it could make 1500hp on the right engine/setup. It was chosen for highway beat downs! It'll spool up great, but even better, once it gets going, watch out!
It's going in a heavy crew cab, with lots of weight.
Thing'll be like a freight train. With a touch of 747 thrown in.
Very nice, it will be so awesome to have a turbo set up some day and that thing is just plain nasty.
is this the 5.3L truck with a 94mm Thumper and Nelson front mount kit i wrote the tune for last week???? This looks like a Build in progress...... and his had a VIC jr ?? ... How many 94mm trucks are there now???? :hyper2:
DP size? Comp ratio on the 408?
Looks like your using my idea for the stepped/transitioned manifolds...
damm maybe ill get to see it this wed.
I found a pic of that Precision " THUMPER" unit... T6 Flange 5.25" downpipe 4" turbo Discharge and 7" Bellmouth Inlet .... Its Alot like yours ! but not..... http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u...s/Newturbo.jpg
You can feel the love. LOL
Is this the turbo that's on my little 5.3 that ur talking about casey?
Yeah alex !! Soon as I saw Allen post 94mm and thumper I thought u sent the turbo back to Texas man ... How's that tune working out ?? U need to post some pics of your setup man asap
saw this badboy earlier damm..and buddy was very happy with the tune!
any updates? saw it the last time i was there, its f' in huge.
install all done, was just waiting on those last 1% parts, they are here, gonna start it up today!
Great, anxious to see the out come of this monster...got me thinking maybe one large turbo instead of twins.
please get a vid or some pics when all done. its a nice clean setup. nothing wrong with twins i love twins.
Got it on the road and been tuning all weekend.
I must say this is the best all around daily driven turbo truck I've driven.
This big Thumper turbo allows the engine to breathe!
NA driving is like no turbo is even installed.
Has a lot of daily driving torque and there is really no need to get into boost.
Even 2-3 psi feels incredible!
Boost is controllable, predictable, and no sudden surge of boost.
The two 17/8" logs into 3" primaries going onto a 3" Y into the turbo turned out great!
Spool up is only a little later than the smaller turbos but once it comes in...!!!
With better brakes 5psi can be had while brakeboosting. 2-3psi as it sits now.
More info later but just wanted to post up initial results.
Anyone still on the fence about a huge front mount don't hesitate do it!
Will he be at SAR?
I sure wanna see some dyno numbers and torque curve on this "highway truck"
Get him a 150hp shot of naz for out of the hole....I'm sure that will cure that 3-5psi out of the hole symtom !!!
