Yes, you may use the truck oil pan, windage tray and pickup tube. Or should I say you MUST use all the above parts. The pickup tube is a must with the truck pan. I'm not 100% sure of the windage tray, they might be identical.
Hey thanks for the reply. :thumb:
Just an FYI, doesn't really apply to your swap, more for older trucks. I used the camaro oil pan, pick up and tray on my '94 truck. It has much more clearance than the truck pan. About 2" or so. The truck pan hung below my crossmember, doh, that would suck if I hit something.
good luck on your swap, it'll be the best mod you do!
anyone know if you can use a stock f-body windage tray with the truck oil pickup tube? Would it require trimming a hole in the back of it?
why mix and match parts when the correct parts are so easily available?
check my post in the mechanical forum.....i have a windage tray thats been modified and I cant figure out whyQuote:

Use your truck pan, pickup tube, and windage tray. The LS1 oil pan will hit your crossmember, you could use the LS1 windage tray but the truck is better, it is full length where the LS1 is not. You can still use the truck oil filter which is longer than the LS1 and it won't hang down past your oil pan.Quote:

so the truck pan is better than a f-body ls1 because its longer? I assume its benificial to keep the oil up near the crank?Quote:

Would it be worth it/possible to swap the ls1 tray for a truck version while retaining the ls1 pickup/oil pan?
The LS1 oil pan will not fit a 99 up truck, there is a crossmember in the way. The truck has a shorter sump but is deeper to make up the difference. Check this out http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=293907
sorry i meant to ask if the truck windage tray is better than the f-bodys. If you get a chance take a look at my post in the mechanical forum and give me your thoughts.Quote:
