i pulled the heads off my 6.0 installed cam etc put in new gaskets and re installed the head bolts but was told they were torque to yeild but wasnt sure if i would be ok reusing them

i've always wanted to on a junk engine just to see if they would be fine, lol
so hypothetically, what would happen if they failed if you did reuse them...
maybe not enough clamping force, maybe one breaks when tightening it down...
i bet it would work, but i'm not finding out lol
almost all gm headbolts are 'one time use' people reuse them all the time. I would never do it in the silvy...but I've done it on other cars with alot less power (2.2 s10 and 3.1 monte carlo come to mind)
schucks sell new kits for like 20 bucks a head, not bad if you ask me.
Im gunna play it safe and buy a set for both heads its like 70 buck and thats better then breaking it down all agin to fix it.
get the ARP's you can use and reuse them forever. but i wouldnt re use the factory bolts.
to late i bought a set of felpro from advanced auto im swapping the motor in monday and tuesday and dont think i could find them and get them that fast unless yall know of anywhere in houston
