LS1 would have higher compression and be about 100 pounds lighter! So i would go LS1 if it were me. :hyper2:
Maybe you can look around a bit more for a lower mileage LS1? Is it just me or does $3,200 seem a bit high?
LQ4, not only for the extra displacement, but the iron block that can be bored and stroked if you ever desire.
I would do the LS1, but you can't go wrong with either one. Go here it is just down the road from you in Adkins. High Perfomance Salvage, inc.
I go with the lq4 for the stronger block, bore stroke options, also it has big enough bores to accept l92 top end if you want, I got mine with 48000 mi and a 4l80e , harness, computer, and all accessories for 1900 shipped to a local drop off, it came from aaa truck and van parts in ft worth texas.. even though the heads on the ls1 give more compression the top end on the truck is better all around.
for $3500 I got a 70k mile 5.7 LS1 and T56, PCM, harness.
Got my lq4 for 1450$. I say get an lq4 but shop around some and try to find a better deal, the things are everywhere and you should be able to find what you want for half the price.
LQ4 no replacement for displacement
Lq4 with out a doubt. Lower miles on it and more cubes, newer. The 100lbs is not worth it to me..
I would go for the LQ4 my self also. And $3200????
Does any one else think that is way over priced?
WAYYY over priced... maby for engine and trans.. just engine and ecm and harness not worth that much.. i can get an engine out of anything from the local yard for 200-350.. so oviously its hard to find lq4 or ls1s there but 3k is what a brand new dropin goes for.. and used wiring isent gonna make up the difference.. plus they will prlly make you pull it.. deff shop somwhere else.. you can get Waay better deals..
Damn, that's just down the road from me too!
Damn, looks like we may have even gone to the same high school!
"That's what I'm talk'n bout Willis" I keep hearing even $3-500 hopefully I can find something like THAT...
6.0 has my vote
lq4 will be more fun with more room to grow should you choose to do so............. we all know you prolly will considering ur getting ur stuff done with nelson he will take you crazy places................ mostly fast ones..... jajaja
Both would be i great investment and have the potential to make crazy power with the lq4 prob having a lil bit more potential being a iron block, and bigger cubes. I was going though the same dilemma on which motor to get, ended up getting a ls1 and dont regret it one bit... 3 grand seems way to steep to me tho i got my ls1 long block with 50k miles for $800
lq4 gets my vote also, more cubes, more potential, much more rebuildable. 100 lbs isn't worth it
I picked up my ls1 longblock for 600 with 80k. If I had found a lq4 for the same price I would have went with it instead. So my vote is for lq4 also
I knew I got a smokin deal on my lq4 for $400 and it only had 17000 miles on it, I just didn't reallize I actually stole my only regret is I should have bought the 4l80 and transfercase that he offered to sell me for $400 more.
dangit!! where were y'all when i was asking to find better-priced engines last year for my swap?! i ended up paying around $800 for my 103k mi 5.3 longblock & harness :(
you can get a fully forged 403 shortblock for 3500... dont buy the first thing you find would be my recomendation. there are WAY better deals out there.
yeah i it was way to much. i am trading my vw for a lq9
