IfItWasMyHome.com - Visualizing the BP Oil Disaster
Let's try and not get into too heated of an argument if one were to arise in this thread. :ugh2::chevy:
Wow thats crazy.
Yeah what gets me is they go crazy when the is the 2nd smallest oil spill ever.
Second smallest............As of now it may be or that could just be what they want us think, also the real fix wont be ready till august they are saying. So its only going to get alot worse before it gets better. Reports say the slick is about 8 to 10 miles of of pensacola, FL. And they estimate landfall in the next 24 to 36 hours. I will be heading across the state this weekend to try and start to do my part with the cleanup. Hopefully this will not be as bad as we are expecting but only time will tell.
But no matter how you look at it, an oil spill covering that many square miles is a catastrophe - finacially, economically, and I'm not a tree-hugger but enviromentally too. I just can't help but think that McCain might have handled this situation at least a little better tho
In that case, I'm glad I live in Florida - I'll bring some degreaser
It is the second smallest ever by fact and I'm talking about anywhere on the planet unlike our failure of a pres is claiming and you can blame the enviroment fags for not letting them burn the oil off like the plan from NOAA says to do.
way to go humans, lol., always f'n something up.
I better buy two Prius's now. bawahahahahaha :tvhaha:
well its caped... sorta hopefully it wont freeze up when they start closing all the valves, oh yeah this thread is hilarious b/c of all the wrong facts in it
as of a few minutes ago they were still trying to cap it, with the containment lid they have been lowering in the ocean the last couple days.. anyways ITs the LARGEST SPILL recorded as of today.. the Valdez was the largest lol!!
hate to say it when you take short cuts in this business shit like this happens.. major cause of the whole dang situation.. only if BP would have listened this would have never happened :(
Largest spill in the US. Not ever though
wtf does this mean?! it wasent even BP's bop, yes there ceo is fail but the cap IS on there are just alot of valves on it, if there were not it would all just freeze up, they have to slowly close the valves and even then there still might be problems. so yes as of right now oil is still flowing into the ocean
oh also while its not the worlds biggest oil spill it is the U.S.'s worst ever, you cant argue that
your right kurt i has noooooooooooooo clue
ignore what ive said
it means BP is greedy, google it you'll find out. i recall reading somewhere about outdated seals and such, BP gave the go ahead to short cut it and pump the concrete in, thus causing a reaction which sent a methane burp up the drill stem, the concrete chemicals and the methane gas doesnt mix :( which then erupted all other seals.. yeah true theres alot of debate what really happened we'll probably never know, BUT thats one company i am glad i turned down there job offer ;) just before they killed 30+ people from the explosion they had a couple years ago..
just glad i chose to go to work for SHELL OIL.. not saying its any better but there safety history speaks for itself.

disproves your cement theory
weather or not bp knew about the seals or not idk, it was a blame game at the beginning but now bp is taking it like a red headed step child. but the fact that tony hayworth said "id like my life back" i think he should be paying for it out of his pocket.
while BP's off shore and refinery safety seems to be bad like you say, i wasn't allowed on a land based bp rig for my first year of work, you also have to take special bp safety classes and wear frc's while on location. so there land crew seems to have it together at the moment
Mic - I like your truck too!
Kurt - When is your truck going to be finished..as in DUN?
Al Gore could fix it. He invented the internet!
Whatever the real facts are (and trust me, we will never truly know), BP dropped the ball on this, and now an enormous amount of our environment is in serious trouble. This spill is so bad that they expect the slick to travel all the way to the Virginia/North Carolina border. Guys, I live very far from all of you in Texas, but this slick from down there will be paying me a visit here in Va. More importantly tho, I hope that none of you oil rig workers were injured or lost any friends when the explosion happened. A terrible situation that has been handled terribly by terrible executives
