Just booked the flight, hotel, and rental car. Me and the fiance finally came to a final decision on the honeymoon, Hollywood it is. We will possibly be in Oceanside June 19-20 and Hollywood the 21st-26th. We are both extremely excited about it. If ya didn't notice. Let's place bets on whether we come back or not. :naughty:

Except that there may actually be something to do in the wood of holly. I have heard it's kinda trashy though, but dats okay because I'm a bit trashy myself.

dont go to oceanside, that town sucks. hit up tamarack beach, lego land, and, if you want, the naval ship museum in san diego. While in the hollywood area, you will want to see venice beach(its full of wierdos :nutz: but you might enjoy it) and the santa monica pier. its the one that comes out in a bunch of movies.
headed to Vegas then LA this week, go to Huntington Beach, nice there, just go south on 15, get off around Long Beach, get on beach, drive south :)
We were planning on checking out Venice, the pier, and of course the walk of fame (Me and the wife to be are huge movie buffs). I also want to check out some of the theaters and museums(ripleys, kodak, etc.) If we go to Oceanside it will be to meet up with family and go to San Diego. We also somewhat have plans on hitting up the Jason Ellis show(plug Kenny's all purpose seasoning(me and my dad make it)) and the tonight show. I'm sure we will have plenty of good times even though I don't think a week will be enough time.
Impala or equivalent, I can't do the compact thing. I may upgrade to a convertible when I get there. I would drive mine but that would eat up 3 days that I don't care to lose.Quote:

There are lots of little things she always points out to me while I'm visiting that I would never know about if she wasn't with me.
When I'm there I get a little freaked wondering if there's gonna be an earthquake while I'm there. I can't imagine what it would be like for the ground to start shaking so hard you can't stand up. Of course when she comes to visit me she thinks a tornado is gonna sweep us away any minute.
I've heard that it's very different. I have a feeling that I will fit right in though, except for my strong texan twang.
awesome to hear man! Hollywood is trashy but i love it and tell anyone who hasnt been to go. If your into music and movies look up a place called Amoeba its a giant 2 story warehouse for every kind of music and movies, its really cool. Or the New Beverly Cinema is really cool is an old movie theater thats been there since the 60's that plays all kinds of old movies usually as a double feature. I would deff go to santa monica its a really cool place and the pier is fun. Venice is Dirty and bum filled but its an adventure and something fun to see haha. I hope you have a fun time man!

I really like the palm trees. I still haven't been to Venice Beach or Santa Monica pier. I'd like to go though. I told her I wanted to see the freaky people. She said she'd take me there next time.
Last time I was there we went to Huntington Beach, Big Bear and Las Vegas.
Huntington Beach was nice and there were interesting things for me to see. There were surf bums, beach bums, a guy playing bongos on the beach, a baby in a stroller with spiked hair, and they were playing beach volley ball next to the pier. At the end of the pier a fisherman had caught a small shark. We ate at the Subway across the street and there were surf people in there too. The waves weren't very big, but there were people surfing.
The houses are crazy expensive there. Her sister just bought a house that would go for about 70k here, but it was 375k there. :eek:
my only advice on things that may be different is just stear clear of Compton and Inglewood at night, they are not good areas to be. ive been in some situation there at night and me being a suburban white guy it was a little sketchy. But you should be fine anywhere else. Just gotta use good common sense.
Thanks for all of the recommendations and pointers guys. Between what I've heard from those who have visited, lived, or live there, it sounds like it is exactly where I want to live. I used to always have these big dreams of being a rockstar or actor but have no musical talent. That and my parents always nay-sayed every big vision I had. I've always idolized comedians like chris farley, John candy, and John belushi which made me want to pursue acting. I have been told that I am good with accents, voices, and getting into character but coming from family, it could be a biased opinion. I tried getting into theatre when I was younger but my weight problems caused stage fright. Now that I D.G.A.F I'm going to get into the local theater and get some practice so maybe when we make the big move I can try my hand at some auditions and what-not. Ever since I was around 10 or so I've wanted to live in southern Cali and now that I am finally going to visit I hope it is everything I've always dreamed it would be.
It's actually possible to meet and get to know some of the celebrities there I guess. My friend knows a few and I would have thought she was BSing me but she's sent me pics of her at parties with them.
thats awesome man ive had the same passions other then cars movies and music are my life. i hope you can do something that is gunna make you happy. and i hope you see a couple stars when you come here its always entertaining. i live right next to Puddy from signfield and will smith lives one city over from me so its possible u can meet some cool people.

We had a 7.2 quake here on Sunday and was felt all over so.cal.. It was in the 4s in the L.A. area.

I heard. A co-worker of mine said people in Vegas felt it. I've always wanted to see what an earthquake was like. Tornados can be pretty intense.
Oceanside is gay, if anything go to san clemente, or seal beach, maybe even coronado island its right by sand diego, oh and dont wear white shoes in hollywood cus theyll be black when you leave, the sidewalks are all sticky feels like a rave or movie theater floor....but hey have fun :lol: go down hollywood blvd, universal studios is at the end :thumb:
All you marines really hate o-side huh? Ash's cousin Tyler moved there because he liked it so much from when he was at pendleton. We would just stop by there to visit them if we did. Most of what we want to do is in LA and "a whale's vagina". I would like to see the whale vagina zoo.
while out there, stop in at west coast choppers in Long Beach. Long Beach pier and business area is very nice. You can also tour the Queen Mary at LB harbour. Tell Jesse James hi for us all and be sure to remind him what a dumbass he is for getting married in the first place and then for cheating on his wife. :whack: Knotts Berry Farm is nice and it costs nothing to go into it to look around or eat lunch/dinner. Take Beach Blvd north from Huntington beach and you go right to it, 8 or so miles up the road.

There is definitely a lot of stuff to see out there. I like to visit but couldnt ever live there.

right right, I like to hear what people dislike about Cali and why, I am a bit of a tree hugger so putting cats and emissions stuff back on the truck is no issue. I have a gun that I hardly ever carry so that really isn't a big deal either. If someone wants to put a gun in my face to steal something then they obviously need it more than I do. One thing I wouldn't like is not being able to shoot someone if they were in my house, uninvited, and have no questions asked. I wouldn't want to live in a huge city, I'm more of an outskirts kinda dude. I'm really in love with the idea of going to the beach one day and going snowboarding the other, also having more to choose from when it comes to stuff to do. It's strange how you can live anywhere in the country, but you still know the names and many of the places in SoCal. It's just that cool there I guess. But in my eyes it was much cooler in the past. These days it's getting less and less appealing there.
As I already posted the things that would keep me from living there is the price of housing, the laws, taxes and the traffic jams. I think the traffic would make me crazy in short order. In SoCal you are nothing more than a very tiny little fish in a huge ocean of people.
For me I'd probably live outside the huge mass of people in some smaller town. So I'd have to drive a bit to get to where the action is. In the end I'd probably stay in the small town most of the time, which means I might as well stay where I am and avoid all the hassles of living in CA. Airplane tickets are much cheaper than the cost of living in SoCal.
Equally tempting to me is Colorado. I love it there, it's so beautiful, but that's a whole other story.
