so i just got my new Infinity Reference 12" w/ dual voice coils and i'll now be ordering an amp. BUT, should i buy a 2-channel amp so that i have one channel per voice coil, or should i buy a single channel amp or run a 2 channel bridged??

It all depends on a few factors when dvc subs are involved. Dual 2ohm coils can work: coils in series on a bridged 2-channel, coils parallel on a 1ohm stable mono amp, or one coil per channel. Dual 4ohm subs wil work: coils per channel on a 2-channel(use half of your power available), coils in series bridged on a 2-channel(still using half of your power), coils parallel on a 2-ohm stable mono for full power or a 1ohm stable mono for half power. Most 2-channel amps are only 2ohm stable per channel, 4ohm brigded. Most mono amps are 2ohm stable with the higher end amps being 1ohm stable. Hope this helped and made sense.

It depends on the ohm of each coil. You want the rms power of the amp to match the rms power of the sub. I usually use a class d mono for subs whenever possible. Your sound is going to come from the tuning more than the amp, but if you don't have the right power your tuning won't really matter.
each voice coil is 300rms max. 4 ohms, but too late now. i just ordered a 2 channel amp that puts out 250rms @ 4 ohms per VC. i didnt misunderstand you i just forgot to mention some detailsQuote:
