thanks man and that servo is good with my 2009?
yea. Same crappy-E. I bought mine from Oregon Performance Transmission. $26 ($12 to ship! )
damn i see that now! they wanna charge like $11.97 to ship the damn thing when the site i think states $2.00??
I believe that most of the newer vehicles already have the vette servo in them. I could be wrong though. Just something else to research!
really? yeah if anyone had input on that subject let hear it :)
Do a search on Ebay and you can find the servo cheaper.. shipping and all
Here is a link on Ebay. Cheapest 1 I found is 14.75 with free shipping.
corvette servo, buy and sell Car Truck Parts on eBay Motors
so is the vette servo we talk about for our trucks the exact same as the stock gm peice out of the corvette? if so what years or even part number would it be?
The PN of the parts currently inside the 2007 GMT900 4L60e trans is...
Cap 8642485
4th apply piston 8642482
Piston 8642553 and approximately 2.280 diameter
out cylinder that fits on the piston 8642466
not sure on the size of a Corvette servo piston. Anyone have one they bought and haven't installed yet?
Wait, you have a 2009 with a 4l60?
my 2007 GMT900 had a 60e. Not a 65 or 70 but a 60. Your's may too. Look on the side of the trans and see if M30 is cast on it. Look in the RPO code list in the glove box.
Red the numbers on the actual piston and cover are production numbers. Not the part numbers. This is a misconception often found in the industry so I wanted to point it out.
Here is the number for the vet servo assembly. Vince
gm # 8642079 for the piston and 8673039 is for the cover.
Hey Vince, can you measure one of the Vette servo pistons and post what the diameter is so they can tell if the one stock in their transmission is the same as the Corvette servo or not?
Hows the the tune? I need to retune for the servo when you get it in....so holla!
great! soften the shifts or what? and welcome back.
Yeah...lets see how it shifts and go from there...I may want to make some pressure changes as well.
The difference is the degree of holding power. Both will firm up your 3-4 shift. The Superior Fairbanks is more extreme than the Sonnax and is usually more appropriate for the dragstrip. The Sonnax is a great in-between (between stock and Superior). Read about all the servos here.
I'm running both Sonnax servos with the Sonnax chromemoly servo pin and have no complaints. The Sonnax 2nd gear servo is a nice improvement over the Vette servo I was using before.
do i need the pin? if i get the sonnax 4th gear and the orgean trans 1-2 servos?
No pin for anyone and the Vette stuff is only 2nd. All the old pistons I've removed had the same numbers on them and my Denali from 2003 has an M30. I've never been in it but it would not surprise me if it had 5-pinion planets. To answer the question, yes...an 08 or 07 or...can have a 4L60E no matter what anyone here says no matter the year or engine size or vehicle weight IF you call all M30's 60's, all M32's 65's, and all whatevers 70's. The fact remains there is hardly a difference in strength between a 60 and 70...there are more differences by year and what are common failures. Buy the Vette kit from OPT off eBay (cheaper) and get a billet 4th piston somewhere if you want that.
damn i love great actual tech know how! will do and ill bring the shift kit buy for that to be installed. thats all you man! lol :)
Go Nathan!!!!!
So this sonnax servo is better then the vette servos??
so they claim but if im understandin nathan you can't tell the difference between the two.
I hope I don't have to see inside of that thing...the 6.0 AWD half ton 60E is a bastard to get out compared to all others because of the goofy exhaust. Guess it could use new T/C fluid though at nearly 90K miles. It's been 2400 miles in 2010!
wow, that means the GMT900 has a stronger servo than the vette. This one was removed and measured with calipers. It's sitting on the floor in the garage and came out of my 2007 model.
