Well i posted up before that i blew up my truck with n2o. Well i was going to put a new engine. Well i pulled off the heads and there is a piston missing.(was in pieces) Would I be able just to put another piston instead of a whole new engine? Can i just remove the oil pan to remove broken piston?
Oh man, theres no telling were all those parts are and what damage its done to the motor.
you still have to pull the motor to replace parts. if it was a toy you could try it but as a daily driver it would never be reliable enough to trust it.
In that case... Id say either pull it down to the bare block and build her up the right way. Checking then replacing what is needed. With a piston in peices I doubt you'll be able to get away with standard bore as well... Probably messed up the cylinder walls...
All the cylinder walls dont have a scrath on them. Maybe the pieces went into the crank maybe that missed up. I will open it up all the way on wed to ask for more ?s.
I dont know how a rod could go up and down in the cyclinder without hiting or damaging itself, Im glad that bad boy didnt come out the side.

The rod or piston pin almost always scratches the cylinder wall. I would definitely tear it down to bare block to check and rebuild it.
your probably better off with a rebuild cuz once you damage a piston more than likely the rest of them have been weakened to some extent :twocents:
If you plan on keeping the blower and the juice I would pull it all the way down.
-Have the crank checked
-Have the block at least honed and have them check the mains
-get a set of forged pistons and file fit rings
I would even maybe have the rod atless the one rod checked and mack sure it didnt bend ot twist in anyway. better to be safe then sorry. Plus I would like to see pictures of that. That is wild.:twocents:
so if he's probably gonna be tearing the engine down, honing the cylinders & buying new pistons anyways, wouldn't it be worthwhile to go ahead & bore it out & get some 5.7 components - seeing's how it's a S/C'd nitrous engine?
EDIT: crap! it's a Denali, so that would be VERY counter-productive!! my bad
When I blew my ford up, bits of metal got in the oil and went through the entire engine. I would not even think twice about tearing it all the way down for inspection.
