I have a 99 silverado and am looking to do an electric fan set up. I was wondering if I should use a f-body set up or look for an after market fan. The truck is basicly a stock 5.3 extended cab with the towing package. I still plan on using it to tow from time to time and dont want it overheat. Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated.

im waiting for a few of the 2005 model silverados to hit the junk yards. cant go wrong with oem electric fans. hopefully nobody bursts my bubble by saying that the 2005 fans wont fit my truck :sad:
go with the flex-a-lite monster fans. They work great.
If you search past posts, someone posted all the part numbers to put the new 2005 silverado fans on a factory 34" radiator. If you have a parts hookup person at a local dealer you can buy factory stuff instead of aftermarket. NelsonPerformance.com has fan relays and stuff to wire them in. You can email Allen and he can set you up with the wiring half.
Or just call Greg at G&R Auto parts in Oklahoma City. He has brand new OEM complete 2005 fan setups for sale! 405-634-0575 extension 104. Tell him Shawn sent you for a better price... See attached...

I am not going to quote a price because he is a personal friend of mine and he gave me a good deal. However, I can tell you these are unused units and they will be much cheaper than piecing them together on your own....Give him a ring and see!
LS1 f-bod fans work well on the 28" radiator, I wish I had bigger fans than my LS1 ones for my 34" rad. In time, I'll upgrade to those '05 models...
GOT ME A SET OF THESE FANS FROM G&R AUTO PARTS, WILL BE PUTTING THEM ON SOON, THEY LOOK GREAT. GOT THEM AT A GREAT PRICE ALSO. :thumb:
would the electric fans for a 2005 Tahoe, Yukon and Suburban fit on my 2001 silverado 5.3? i think i found some for my truck if they will fit :taunt: it measures approximately 34 1/2" wide, 20" high and 4" deep if that helps any
if they do fit, does anyone have a clue of how they cool in comparison to the flexalites?

what size radiator do i have? or better yet, what size fans do i need...
You have a 28" core. So the LS1 fans fit pretty well actually. You need fans to match the core size.
i was hoping for the factory look...im kinda picky about my ride as im sure most of yall are too. does the ls1 fans bolt right up or do you have to mod it up a little.
does anyone know if i can do the ls1 electric fans, but still have to put the factory shroud back in? you know, just to keep it "factory lookin".
one last annoying question :smile: will i need to make any of my own brackets or can i just bolt the fans up?
You could always get a wider rad like I did to run those '05 fans. I want an HD rad with an oil cooler (not just an ATF cooler). So if you run into one, let me know for sure!
The wider rad cools a lot better.
I had to make some brackets to run those LS1 fans, took about 15min to do at the most. I'll try to find some pics of the install I had on my '99 Z71.

a new radiator sounds expensive, and like a pain in the butt. looks like im in the market for ls1 fans. i cant see the picture you posted, and it says your site is private. thanks for all the help by the way :smile:

Rad swap is easy, and cheap if you look. I got my rad for less than $100...

i decided to wait until i get tuned. im pretty big into doing stuff the right way the first time to save alot of headaches and money. having it plugged into your computer seems the best route to me. ill probably get the fans here soon and put them in the closet until this summer.
TxSilverado I have not put the fans on yet, waiting for Allen to get the connectors for the harness. I am going to SA in a few months and I will have them put on when I get my tune. Sorry for the late post I have been kind of busy at work here lately and my little boy has been sick. Not much time to get on the computer at home when I get off work.
