Isopropyl rubbing alcohol will cool the charge. People have been running it through engines for years. It will give you a good boost. Watch your KR and check it out.
I'm scared....
Allen, it sounds strange, but windshield washer fluid is mostly methanol, just with a little color and soap. I'm not sure I would just use this, but some say they do.
That's different, windshield washer fluid as methanol. I would have never thought of that. I guess you know methanol is methyl alcohol or also known as wood alcohol.
Just give it a shot of Jose Cuervo. I'M with Greg on this.
i had a whole tote(500 galons) the other day...shoudda brought you a can full when i came up for the install :duh:
A little shot for the truck, a little shot for me, a little more shot for me lol!Quote:

What are you trying to do, boost octane? There are some alternatives like alcohol stated by Greg or options like MTBE or TETRAETHYL LEAD. I'm sure we can come up with something. After all I do work for an oil refinery that makes gasoline. LOL
I heard toluene is probably the best thing you can use to boost the octane, not sure of the exact mixture though. Even my Chemistry teacher here at ASU recommended it to our class. :twocents:
I think he's looking for Methanol substitute for the injection system for his turbo to cool down his IAT's.
Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'm trying to find a substitute for the meth kit.
I have this 383 Camaro 8.5cr, sts equipped, monster here and I didn't want to search for methonal.
I will say, it's done, and this damn car is a monster!!!
Of course, I can't get on it like the owner will, but shifting it at 4K rpms, it's still strong as an ox! I'll have the customer take me for a ride tomorrow and report back.
It should put over 600hp to the wheels. 5psi daily driving, 8-9psi second stage.
The engine is built to handle 12psi or so.
allen
great allen...you got it on that thing...give us the scoop when you get it dynoed. :thumb:
I'll be putting it on the dyno tomorrow morning.Quote:

Allen, doing the truck spoiled you. F-bodies are a little different story.
Shoot me an email to trtturbo@sbcglobal.net and I will send you some pics
of the FMIC install on my Formula. I would post them, but they are too big
and I dont know how to reduce them.
Allen you get alcohol by the gallon at home depot in the paint dept. I would get some uplon oil to mix with it.
I figured something out, and it worked great. The iAT's never reached over 78degs at 9psi.Quote:

The owner came up and was ready to pick up the car, but after we talked, the oil pressure is just tooo low, about 5psi at idle. I'll check it out with another gauge and see if it's the gauge or the oil pump.
Other than that, THIS CAR HAULS ASS!!!! I had the owner take me for a ride and drive it like it was meant to be driven, I really only had it at wot on the dyno.
9 psi on this car is crazy, it slips in third.
He'll be picking up the car later with a fresh oil pump (if it needs it) and 12psi!!
thanks again,
allen
And what did you use for a methanol substitute? Inquiring minds want to know.
Yea Allen, what was it?
oh it was no biggy, just a mixture of alcohol and water, worked out great!Quote:
