COMP CamsŪ - Cam Details
I am thinking about using this cam in my LM7 383 build.
Anyone used this cam or have experience with it?
Thanks,
Tyler

you could probably go a bit bigger with a 383 than that cam...you going fi or n/a?
I agree, bigger would be better.
haha. I could get a smoking deal on a new one thats why I asked.
Sorry now this is kind of overlapping on my other thread in the conversion section.
LM7 bored and stroked to 383ci (forged internals) 10:1 compression
243 heads
TBSS 90mm intake swap
Shorty headers w/ stock y pipe. (may be cut into true duals at a later date)

so what do you think? like a Thunder Racing TR220-114?
I am wondering about the longevity of a cam like this? and the other valve train parts affected by it.
That combo will net you a pretty stout, torquey motor. Lower RPM power shouldn't be a problem, so lets see if we can figure out a cam that might not only accentuate the low end, but also scream up top.... As for longevity of the cam and valvetrain parts--it all revolves around the quality of valvetrain parts and the cam lobe design. PRC springs and the appropriate length hardened pushrods will be necessary.
I would think that a TR220-114 would be a good cam for that motor, but it would be on the smaller side of things, IMHO. With the compression ratio/intake/heads combo, I would think something near a 234/236 .592/.581 113+3 LSA.
HAHAHA--with those mods and a stock TC??? Look into the Circle D 11" 3000 stall for $375.
I would not run that healthy of a cam on a stock converter. It would need to be significantly smaller....maybe like a 216/218 .542/.535 114+2 LSA cam.
I talked to john at thunder racing and he seemed to think the TR220-114 would be ok with the stock converter. If I was to go with say a 2500-3000 stall converter would it affect my fuel economy?
are you going to be towing at all? because if not i really see no reason not to get a higher stall
I've got a never installed TR 220-114 still in the box. Send me a PM if you're interested.
