Round 2

I've been down a while because I blew up my engine, well a piston to be exact. It appears #7 injector was leaning out on the top end, during boost. There's really know way to easily monitor this, without it being a pita. Wideband showed good, but one sensor in the pipe is reading all injectors.
That's history now, time to move on.

Today I was able to head up to Hi-Way Auto , www.hi-wayauto.com , and pick up my 2003 6.0L. It's pretty much complete and the guys up there are very helpful and I don't anyone can beat their price. Browsing around the yard; I felt like I was in a candy store, lol. Engines everywhere!!!

I'll get this in soon, then head out to the track and see what she'll do. I'll be running about 6lbs for now. After the intercooler is in, I'll take it up some more, along with some larger injectors.

Very nice, you've got better heads on that 6.0 and it's lower compression (9.4:1 I think vs 10:1) over the LS1. Seems No 7 takes a dump on the motors that go for some reason.

Cool. That will definitely give more power but you'll lose a bit of performance since you're going to be dragging around a few more pounds. That turbo will definitely offset the added weight and then some. I might go that route too when I finally wear my LS1 engine out. Glad to see you getting back in the game, Allen.

A quick question for Allen.....Is the rear crankshaft flange the same on the 6.0L the same as our's on the LS1 5.7s? I thought I heard they are a different length.

I think you're thinking of the '99-00 6.0... those had longer cranks only for the 4L80E.

Allen, I don't know if you have a 255 lph walbro pump in there already or not but if you don't, you might seriously consider one since you've already proven a lean condition at high rpm. You might also consider going to a flow thru fuel rail system such as those by aeromotive. The one line fuel rails are notorious for leaning out an engine during performance mode since they are designed to feed fuel to the engine as a secondary requirement. Cooler fuel is also a benefit with a flow-thru fuel rail system, too. As you know, cooler/denser fuel makes more HP and that's the name of the game.

Allen has the Walbro 255 pump and the truck intake which has the flow thru fuel system. I think one of the injectors he had was just not flowing like it should.

The crank is the same, if you buy a 6L with the flywheel on it, you'll notice they have a spacer behind the flywheel, that's the only difference.

Like the hitman said, 99-00 i think had a diff. crank.

My price won't be the same as when you call, it depends on how many they have on the shelf, how new, how many miles, etc.
I can tell you this, HI-Way Auto definitely takes care of their customers, besides the warranty and honest answers, I came out with a cool tshirt and several pens :thumb:
Expect to pay anywhere from $1200-$2000, depending on year and miles.

I'll run the tranny , 60E, until it lets go, then I'll head back down to HiWay and get my HD trans.

Hey Jeff, now we'll have a nice comparison on what is faster, an ls1 or 6.0L, all we'll need to do is disconnect the intake and open the exhaust, I'd like to compare them someday when we get some time.

Ya, the light weight is nice, but the squirrely rearend doesn't win races, hahaha
