why not wait for another 6 oh to come around? it seems alot of people that do the swap and dont get a 6.0 regret it later...

i say wait for another 6...
u can come to sunny az for for some help i know its a long drive but its 95 here and i need a place to stay when i go on my next road trip
Sure I could wait for another deal on a 6.0, but why? I'm not going for 11's. All I want is to make my truck actually fun to drive, all I'm gonna do is throw a big cam in it, bolt ons and a small shot to make sure I don't bring a knife to a gunfight. And I'm keeping the 5speed until it breaks and then t56.
Ok guys, gonna need a hand with this, coming with my motor is a full complete 2005 harness, frame mounts and gas pedal. So getting it in there and wiring shouldn't be a problem, but I just want to know some other thing to look into, like the clutch fuel system things of that nature the little piss poor things that can just stop everything all at once. And yes I've read the swap thread probably 90 times over, but that one is leaning towards the 99-03's. Mine's an '06 using an '05 motor and harness
me and chick just did this exact swap bro. ill have him get on here and get you some info.
Good deal thanks G
he figured out the easy way to do the swap and leave it a 5 speed.
well get his ass on here
Crap! Sorry G. I think I was supposed to do something and forgot. Does it run and drive yet?
To use the stock 5 speed you will need a truck flywheel. the ls1 flywheel won't work with the 5 speed they are different thickness. the throwout bearing wont engage the clutch with the ls1 flywheel. if the wiring harness is auto you will need the prnd switch from the transmission. you will need to plug it into the harness with it in the park position lets the pcm think its in park so you can start the truck with the key. for the dbw you will also need the tac module and wire form the pedal to the module also. before you mate the engine to the tranny be sure to install the pilot bearing into the crank.
your stock fuel system will work just fine.
So all the lines just hook right up? And Can't I get all the transmission stuff shut off in the tune and just tie the wires out of the way?
Dropped the motor in the truck this afternoon.......

Only 12000ish miles on it, I love it when a plan comes together. Oh and for anyone that reads this and is thinking about doing this I'll explain what I got. Engine with about 12000 miles, harness, acessories, frame mounts for $1300(Canadian). If you look hard you can find a decent deal, it helps if you work at one of the General's stores and the parts guy and the junkyard guy are on good terms with each other though.
if you got any questions just pm chick man, theres a few more things youre gonna need to know
:thumb: Probably not gonna do the swap until spring, was gonna put it in before the end of October, stock everything even the tune but what fun is that? Open to any suggestions on cams and what not too.
