Is there any software out there that is able to edit the BCM?? And also, what is your guys' opinion on what the best OBDII software is??
What do you need to do to your BCM software? What issue do you have?
Oh my...
Before they rip you a new one, I think you mean PCM, and yes there is EFI LIve, HP Tuners and more but I think those 2 are the most popular. Just try google you'll find it.
ooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhh then ignore my last post
Door chime involves the radio and the BCM
Just that we needed to make sure you REALLY wanted to mess with the BCM. No problems. :greg:
why wouldnt I? what in there could i mess up that would be fatal to my truck
Load shedding, power mode master, security, interface issues.....there's really nothing in there that would be worth the risk other than little things like no fogs with brights (can fix another way) and stuff like that.
Finally we know what you wanna change. What does it do you don't like and/or what do you want it to do?
May not be possible on an 02. Gotta look it up. PM me tomorrow or look in the owner's manual. I have another very similar issue to research on a 2000 as well.
For the 2002....Not sure there is a way to disable the horn chirp.
If the vehicle has power door locks, it is equipped with a feature that enables you to program the power door locks.
The vehicle left the factory programmed to automatically lock all doors when the vehicle is shifted out of PARK (P), and all doors unlock when the vehicle is shifted into PARK (P).
If the vehicle has a manual transmission, it left the factory programmed to lock all doors when the vehicle speed is greater than 13 km/h (8 mph) for two seconds, and unlock all doors once the key is removed from the ignition.
The following instructions detail how to enter the programming mode for the power door lock feature:
Begin with the ignition in OFF. Then pull the turn signal/multifunction lever all the way toward you and hold it there while you perform the next step.
Turn the key to RUN and OFF twice. Then, with the key in OFF, release the turn signal/multifunction lever. Once you do this, you will hear the lock switch lock and unlock.
You are now ready to program the automatic door locks. Select one of the following four programming options and follow the instructions. You will have 30 seconds to complete programming. If you exceed the 30 second limit, The locks will automatically lock and unlock to indicate that you have left the program mode. If this occurs, repeat the procedure beginning with step 1. You can exit the program mode any time by turning the ignition to RUN. If the LOCK/UNLOCK switches are not pressed while in the programming mode, the current LOCK/UNLOCK mode will not be modified.
• The following is a list of available programming options:
• All doors lock/Only the driver's door unlocks: Press the lock side of the power door lock switch on the door panel once, and then the unlock side once.
• All doors lock/All doors unlock: Press the lock side of the power door lock switch on the door panel once, and then the unlock side twice.
• All doors lock/None of the doors unlock: Press the lock side of the power door lock switch on the door panel once, and then the unlock side three times.
• No doors lock/None of the doors unlock: Press the lock side of the power door lock switch on the door panel twice. This turns off the automatic door lock feature.
For the 2000....
Vehicles equipped with the automatic door lock option are factory programmed to have the automatic lock feature lock all the doors when the vehicle speed is greater than 15 MPH (24 KM/H) for two seconds, and then unlock all the doors once the key is removed from the ignition. The following instructions detail how to program the automatic door locks. One of the four programming options should be selected prior to entering the programming mode.
To enter the programming mode you need to:
Beginning with the ignition in OFF, pull back on the turn signal/multifunction lever all the way toward you and hold it while you perform the next step.
Turn the key to ON and OFF twice. Then, with the key in OFF, release the turn signal/multifunction lever. Once you do this, you will hear the lock switch lock and unlock and a ten second program timer will begin.
You are now ready to program the automatic door locks. Select one of the four programming options listed below. Follow the instructions, then wait for the ten second timer to expire. The programmable auto door locks will now operate in the selected mode. If you were unable to complete the programming in the time allowed, repeat the procedure beginning with step 1.
The following is a list of the available programming options:
All doors lock/Driver's door unlocks only:: Press the lock side of the power door lock switch on the door panel once, and then the unlock side once.
All doors lock/All doors unlock:: Press the lock side of the power door lock switch on the door panel once, and then the unlock side twice (this is the factory setting).
All doors lock/None of the doors unlock:: Press the lock side of the power door lock switch on the door panel once, and then the unlock side three times.
No doors lock/None of the doors unlock:: Press the lock side of the power door lock switch on the door panel twice. This turns off the automatic door lock feature.
You can exit the program mode at any time by turning the ignition to ON (the locks will automatically lock and unlock to indicate you are leaving the program mode). If the lock/unlock switches are not pressed while in the programming, the respective automatic lock/unlock feature setting will not be modified.
ok, cool. where did u find this??
Thanks Nate
In GM Service Information that tranny god says is always incorrect. GM doesn't have the owner's manual online for the 2000 or the 2002 so I couldn't call you out. :spit:
Thanks for finding the response after that PM....:burnrubb:
still on the mission on converting from a 02 to a 03+.. but I would need BCM controlling :unfair: well and a lot more, lol
GasGuzz-
does the same door lock sequence hold for a 1999?
The two biggest complaints (like the only two complaints really) I have are having to unlock the doors to get out, and the stupid auto headlights that have now developed a mind of their own...
Got any DE-programming wisdom there?
I'd love to be back in control of my truck. thx in advance,
A 99 has no door modules. Those came out in 2003. 1999 GMT800 is a one off single year only system that differs from the 2000 (that differs from the 2001-2002).
There are two auto door lock programming schedules on the 99 if I remember properly so that's issue one. Issue two is the auto lights but I need to know a little more than they now have a mind of their own.
Awesome- progress is a good thing, however small.
#1- Doors lock at approx 15mph, but I have to unlock (sliding the lever or hitting the unlock button) them to exit the truck. Is there an option 2? or should I just wait and install the aftermarket security/remote starter kit? It has power locks but not a wireless remote.
#2- according to a couple other GM forums and lightsout.org, the autolamp feature can be permanently disabled by jumpering the ALS with a 1500 ohm resistor, making the BCM 'see' daylight all the time. I did this and it worked the charm for three weeks. Then it seemed to think I moved to Alaska, and shifted the 'on-off' threshold way up, so unless the ALS was in direct sunlight, the headlights are on. I removed the resistor, and am hoping that in another week (it's already been two) it will shift back to what was 'normal'. This result is identical to what another guy ran into, but that thread closed a couple years ago without a final resolution.
If anyone has need to enter a military base after dark, you will know the MPs gets really irritated (understatement) if you don't pull up to the gate with parking lights only. The other thing is that I really don't need to have the head/tail/dash lights sucking amperage away from the starter on cold snowy (dark) New England winter mornings.
I have spent hours combing different forums (too bad I didn;t find this one earlier), and some 'seem' to 'think' there 'might' be a dealer programming option to eliminate the annoying auto headlamps.
Doctor- is there hope?
Remind me.
consider this a reminder... (?)
Just in case it might mean something someday...
99 BCM's can only be re-programmed by the dealer for
1) auto-lock at 15mph & no un-lock, or
2) no lock, no unlock.
Having to unlock the door to get out was such a pain, I saved the $75.00 (lowest dealer fee quoted) and had a keyless entry/remote start installed for $250, and now have unlock-on-key-off programmed right in.
...me happy driver now.
