Motors same size just diff year would I still need a retune
More than likely no.
Depends. A 2003 5.3L and a 2004 5.3L should have a different tune. The 2003 is not Flex Fuel and the 2004 is FF.
What motors are you working with?
From an 01 to a 04
Are you swapping EVERYTHING over or just motor?
Just motor
from 01 to 04, that also changes to DBW & has a different harness/computer, from what i remember
2 much 2 hasle with then
If you are doing just a stock 01 with a stock 04 motor only, you should not need a retune. And this is just for a motor only swap. This is assuming you are retaining the intake, all accessories, TB, fuel system, etc.
switching short blocks should be fine... there's a guy on performancetrucks.net selling an LM4 :)

No thx I got a 04 5.3 and an 04 6.0 ima probly try and make my 6.0 a 370 but would forged pistons work well with the stock rods n crank
Anyone know??
yes
ok good then my mind is made a 6.0 bored 5 over with forged 4.005 je mahle pistons lol so the build begins
Why not just swap long blocks? Everything should be the same? If the compression and cam specs are the same it shouldn't need a tune..
Thought about it who knows might en up just waiting for my 6.0 2 get build why waste double money when I can sell the 5.3 and get more money for the 6.0
