I'v got a flowmaster delta flow 40 series 3'' in and dual 2 1/2'' out and i can't stand the popping/rapping noise it makes around 2500 rpm. i'm looking to go 3'' all the way but i havent decided on a muffler. What kind do you guys reccomend? i want a deep throaty sound with NO popping sound and good power

+1 on the Magnaflow, even my 4.3 sounds good.
ive had magnaflow, i have dynomax, ive had flowmaster. out of the 3 the sound of a cammed motor with a 40 series is probably best "muscle sound"
the magnaflow had a cleaner sound but didnt have the "muscle sound" you hear from the older days
current combo has a dynomax ultra flow, similar to magnaflow, it quieted down the truck the sound is about the same as it was without a muffler butjust quieter.
for na the power difference in mufflers is so minoote i would go on sound. Magnapaks are loud if that is what you want

yea sounds ok when its idling or at WOT but when i'm just easin along it makes that annoying popping sound...
i dont like the magnaflow its a little too quiet for my liking and sounds too clean. i had a 40 series on my truck then cut it off and had all 3.5 tubing with a v-force muffle it sounds good. can be a little to loud at times but i like it.

Whats the deal with magna flow?I think theyre awfull ,raspy as heck when you get into em,like an old school glasspacks and waay overpriced..ive had alot of different mufflers and magnaflows were the worst.maybe its my setup with f/i and headers size pipes etc,too each theyre own but i dont like a raspy exhaust.Im sure the setup makes a difference and on stock probly wont sound the way mine did.FWIW i like the dynomax ,welded case straight thrus.deep sound stay the same throughout rpm range.Magnas from what i heard was quiet at idle,and raspy throughout rpm range.Maybe dual 2.5s with headers and f/i isnt breating enough through them.If you decide to get magnas ,Ive got 2 like new 2.5 in 2.5 out,ill give ya a deal on,still shiny new.Good luck.

still have never had that with flows when accelerating, now when downshifting manually its a different story. You could try adding a H pipe.
i can't run that cause it would hit the transfer case right?
No you just move it on back in the exhaust system. Theres a few around here running them with 4wd trucks.Quote:

Borla ProXS is Borlas 'economy' priced muffler. It's stainless and build exactly like their expensive line./

BTW, most all chambered muffs will have that resonance.

na the baffles broke loose in the last flow muffler so i know what that sounds like...this isn't makin that sound
4'' diesel magnaflow.... works for me

well let's start with i have spent close to 700 bucks on trying different mufflers cuz i had the same annoying problem with my flowmaster after i deleted the cats then i tried a magnaflow bullet and it got worse then went to dynamax bullet a little better but not much and a few other that i can't remember finally went with a borla xr-1 and i love it has a nice deep rumble and still has a little popping but nothing obnoxious like a a flowmaster. good luck on your new exhaust
I have 3" pipe from the cats to the 3" inlet of a flow super 44 then 2.5 out the back. I have no popping what so ever on accel or decell... Good luck Mark
I like flowmaster but if i had to go with something else i would do borla
