Shift fork in the T/C is broken if the lights on the dash still work without flashing all at once and there is no SERVICE 4WD message. Had one two weeks ago. It was going to cost more to put in a used one (with a warranty) than to put in a reman from GM. The rebuild cost was going to be about 80% of the replacement so the customer got a new one.
what part number is it???
I have a complete transfer case, push buttom switch and module for sale if you need it. Can even install it, I'm in south asutin. check my photobucket.

SOLD IT!
I bet he will need a front diff like GG said.
Gas Guzzler Prolly has a diff with 3.73 gears. ;)
I didn't say diff....I said shift fork in the T/C
Huh? :spit:
If I busted a diff open it would never work again. I can however unbolt one and bolt in another.

Yes but his problem is with the transfer case not the diff.
I am an idiot. I thought you said in the diff. Sorry.
Haha it's OK man.
I had that exact same problem in my truck, I replaced the decoder engine or actuator in the t/c, not sure on how they call it but that fixed my problem..
The encoder motor moves the shift fork. If it were messed up you'd get codes and a message.
i have no 4wd the lights ain't on an it says to service 4wd? it is on a 04 chevy silverado 1500 z71
New problem
Make sure the switch is plugged in.
Make sure the fuses in all three locations are good. Make sure the module is plugged in and you do not have a windshield leak getting the module wet.
Beyond that you need scanned for codes.
You also need to make an introduction topic in the newbie section.
Darn :newbie:s
