Got my posi and gears in

I finally got the rearend together (with the help of Jag Performance) today and boy, does it feel awesome. I haven't driven a vehicle with over 200hp in a long time lol.
I must have been driving around with a weak posi for a while, because I was used to the slipping and burning out. The eaton definitely grabs a lot better, I didn't get on it much, but from what I did test out , it feels great.
I ditched the steep 4.10's for some milder 3.07's. What a nice ride now! I'm not taching out on the highway and the truck pulls very nice, I think it's the 3200stall that's helping.
I'm keeping these gears when I get the 80e installed. I can only imagine how hard and loooong 1st and 2nd are going to pull. It will also have good highway manners, the 80e has a steeper 4th gear, the 3.07's will offset that a bit and make it comfortable.

Next week, the turbo get installed!!!!!! I'm going to do some before and after dyno's and see how much HP the 80e chews up compared to the 60e.

Anybody how any guess as to how long this 60e is going to last, hahaha.

Well i would say that if you are already running 12s and now you are adding a turbo the 60e wont make it out of the driveway haha. Allen by the way i sent you another email. I hope that eventually my truck will be as fast as that...

Damn Allen I am jealous. I am just wanting to get a system on my tired old 4.3.
I think you may be surprised with the 60e. The turbo seems to be easier than the nitrous on the drivetrain. I have about 10 F-body kits out and so far, the auto's are doing good. I have had one guy burn up his clutch though. He seemed happy in an odd way that he had that much extra power to burn up his clutch.
Are you doing all custom pipe, or did you get a pre-fab kit and tweak it?

I bought the nbs kit and I'll just fab the rest. I think it will be close enough. Good to hear on the 60e's, but my luck on the trannys aren't that good, lol. I tend to abuse them quite a bit. :burnout:

Seriously though, the stall seemed to like the gears and it still burns out for a long time, not that it's a good thing, but it tells me I didn't loose too much. These gears coupled with the 80e are going to be awesome, I hope, I'm wanting the gears to be long and stretched out.

You're going to like that 80e. I'm thinking the 3.07's might mpot be quit enough gear for that already steep 1st in the 80e. It's going to be about like starting out in 2nd with the 60e and the 4.10's when you put the 80e in with those 3.07's. I'm thinking it might get you some crazy trap speeds though.

I'm interested to see what that 80e chews up as far as power though.

Well come for a ride in my ~6000lbs truck, even with like 260rwhp it's slow hahaha

Remember turbo's are load dependant... it's not going to be too slow with a 3.07:1 and that ~2.47:1 in the 4L80E. It's going to help it reach full boost pretty damn quick. If you have the time/funds I'd play with it to see what's best.

A 3.42:1 could be better on the inital roll out, but since I know you're going to run a fat stall it may not be.

How much boost is planned for this setup?

I was also thinking about fourth gear as well. The 80e has a lower fourth and I really don't like to turn high rpms on the highway, as much fun as a fast take off it, turning 3K on the highway wouldn't be fun. I'll be driving my truck as much as possible. The stall will help launching, I should be able to stall it to 3K, that should almost be full boost, or close to it.
I'll be running 10psi after I get the bigger tranny in and 6L heads.

What's the diameter of your tires? I'm running 30" tires with 4.10s. I cruise 70 @ 2500 rpm. It takes 3000 rpm to run 85. WIth a quiet exhaust it isn't to bad, but if there was a lot of traveling to do with my truck, I'd definantly be looking at some taller gears.

You will have 8 gears then.

My tires are about 29.5 inches, I think, so it wasn't too bad, but I really love these gears, I finally got on it a bunch today and it just pulls hard through first and second. Second feels like it pulls forever, I kind of feel like I should let off because it feels like it should be shifting, I guess I'm used to the 4.10's.
I can actually downshift into 1st now without going up in smoke on some good tacky asphalt.
Turbo just came in today, i got some of the assembly done.
If I got with a TH400, gear vendors is on my list. That was actually the other option if the 80e doesn't work out.

Brian (Blownchevy) shifted 1-2 at 55MPH if I remember correctly when he put in the 80E and had the 4.10s, and you're doing 3.07s and the 80E? :eek: What would that shift at if you had a stock or small (2600) stall?
