Here you go guys, a stock 6.0L graph vs an STS equipped with 5psi.
Jerry was nice enough to come all the way from Louisiana and dyno this thing.
I've added text to the pics so you can easily see how much it gained.
This is a '99HD 6L with an STS Turbo and 5psi.

No i had a lot of drawings i had to get out. but i will make it next week. Beside i think it rained at the track wednesday

Jerry, Great numbers after the sts. Looking at the graph it looks like you had 220 HP stock. I thought the 2000 6.0 were around 285 to 300 HP stock from the factory.
Is it that the advertised HP is at the flywheel and your measuring at the rear wheels? I would have thought stock HP would have been more :duh:

I have not had the truck on a dyno. When I purchased the 6.0 HD new in 2001 it was advertised at 300 HP. Dont know about factory tq ratings.
Just curious, I have no idea if the advertisments are even close to reality

that advertised hp is at the crank not at the wheels...they dont tell you that.. :sad:
So is it possible to lose around 20% of HP through the drive train?
look at the dyno run at the top of the thread,,,it has stock hp of 220 at the wheels...dont know chevy's rated hp for the 2000 x 6.0...
ya it was the 220 that suprised me. I thought factory HP was around 285 at the flywheel for that year. it seems your losing quite a bit of HP through the drive train.
I need to put mine on the dyno to see what the real # are

well you guys you have to realize that this dyno is not like the other dynos out there that just free spin the rear wheels so yes his numbers are lower but very close to stock 6.0L . and you also lose 80 hp with the 4l80 trans compared to the 22hp from the 4l60 later, kevin
That is amazing to lose that much HP through the drive train. So if I have 300 HP to start with and about 50 HP in mods, I could only have 270 HP at the rear wheels. No wonder it wont spin the tires!!!
What is it about the 4l80e that causes such a loss :duh:

its because the 4l80e and the rear ends are so big and are made for heavy duty usage.
Big tranny and rearend kind of bogs it down but i solved that problem.....Turbo :smile:

yay and i am fixin to be losing some power as well. as soon as i do the 4l80e swap i will have to see where i satnd. i might have to up tha shot a little. i will bne going with a 2800 stall instead of a 2500. i might get lucky and even out with a 175 shot instaed of a 150 shot.
:whack: I suppose that's the base STS kit, with just the Nelson tune? Right? Don't know if it matters, but did you pick up any mileage with that setup. The article in Sport Truck picked up quite a bit with the base kit, with no engine management tune up.

so just curious, what kind of MPG do you get with normal driving now? and what size tires are you running>
my mpg aint gonna be worth a shit for a while :burnout: and as far as tires..i went from a stock 245/75/16 to a 285/75/16 and im gonna have to go to a 305/70/16 which is wider and the same height as the 285.
