2004 5.3 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab
I basically want to do a 2"/4" drop.
Yeah Which one should I get? WITH or WITHOUT Shocks? Whats the reasoning to getting a kit w/o shocks? i need to call Belltech too...
What is the diffrence between their NITRO and STREETPERFORMACE shock??
OR should i buy diffrent shocks on the side?? OR should I go with a hutchkins or what other brand?

axle flip and cut your springs 3 in will get you a 3/6 i love mine just don get spindles they will push your front tires out and you will scrub
not doing that man lol only want a 2/4" drop. I will still be towing the vette.

Do spindles up front, keeps all your front end geometry in check. McGaughtys has a better spindle than Belltech for static drop.
i hear ya well Belltech is real nice just get drop springs and not spendels for the front the alinement shop may have to work alil harder but spendels tend to make you scrub inless you have ruberbands
i run ground force.

yea they wear much easier to align i just had to go down to 255s to keep them from scrubbing when i turned sharp when i swaped to a cut spring i didin have that problem
thats because your camber was probably maxed out with the cut spring, pulling the wheel in. with spindles its easier to get the stock specs back in check
i also went 3 in tho so if your only goin 2 go for it try spindels he is right they are good on your alignment shop

I've got a Belltech 2/4 drop with spindles and 295/40/20's and I do not rub on the front. Although I could see it happening with the wheel cranked and hitting a nice dip or something. Hasn't yet though :)
Oh and with the belltech drop spindles I think you can't run any rims under a 20" can you? The bottom bolt on the drop spindle is about 1/2" from the rim. This kit was on the truck when I bought it and the previous owner said you can't run anything smaller then a 20" wheel. Perhaps they make different spindles? You might want to look into that just to make sure.
you can run 17'' on either of the spindles companys...They send a jam nut for the lower balljoint and you trim the excess off... Super easy
yea i ran stocks at the track all the time
Ive used two different lowering control arms from DJM and did not like them. Bump steer like crazy and tie rods are shot almost within the first week of driving. Do what DBRODS said and get some spindles

belltech said that on a crew cab I HAVE TO do a flip kit to get a 4'' drop. i may just do shackles and ride a 2'' rear drop for a while then go lower later :(

Whatever you do, DO NOT cut your springs anymore than half a coil. Cutting your springs in half for lots of drop not only is hack, but it will throw your alignment out to next to impossible causing an insane amount of wear and tear. GM spent millions engineering your truck, as did the aftermarket companies for there products. DON'T HACK.

its not called hack. its funny you buy some springs and they actually tell you to cut the springs to get desired ride height.

also as for camber i run -1 for handling and it doesnt create unusual wear either.
I've got the DJM 4-6 with control arms and I dig it, I haven't seen or felt any problems yet (knock on wood). then again, I've only had the truck for 2 months now, but the original owner said he never had any trouble with it. Truck has the doetsche tech shocks and rides like a dream.

Bottom line is that spindles or control arms are going to be your best bet for the front. Either option is going to give a stock like ride and will align with no problems.
When choosing a spindle I would go with either McGaughy's 17+ spindles or Belltech's 17+ spindles. They are easier to setup and maintain the closest to stock driving characteristics.
Avoid at all costs the 2505 Belltech Spindles! They are a decade old design and are pure crap. Their new spindles are designed much better now though.
All in all Quik is right, there is some really bad information in here and most of it seems to be from people who have not experienced any of it first hand.
I run a cheap a** Springtech 4/6 drop with spindles and springs in the front and a rear flipkit. I bought Doestch Shocks with the offset sized rears. I have only a little scrub at full lock with 17s. I think I paid a total of about 650 bux for everything and its great:hyper2:

You have to remeber that EVERYTHING (in the rear) changes when its a CREW CAB. Its not the same for an extended cab or single cab truck. I wish I could do shackle and hangers but I from What I've researched I have to do a flip kit (R) and spindles (F) (with new schocks) to achieve a 2/4" drop.Quote:

I Dont mean to Hyjack but Why only the 17+ spindles. I am thinking about lowering my truck (99 Silverado Stepside) and I have the stock 16" Wheels. The only thing I have been able to find are Mcgraughy's 2/4 Lowering Kit (Number 11003) for 16"+ rims. I dont want to buy rims/tires yet.

Ah you're right I totally skimmed over that part. The 2004 crew cabs should have had the hangers welded to the frame so that kind of sucks. DJM makes a hanger that bolts on to the hanger, but it looks pretty sketchy and I wouldn't trust it on my truck. You may consider running a flip kit, lift shackle and some air shocks. Aside from that though your only option is to remove the overload in your leaf springs or do the drop leaves.Quote:
