i need some good performance spark plugs for N/A motor? any suggestions??
A a lsx motor?? Stay with stock iridiums, don't change them!
+1 stock plugs
ACDelco 41-985.
under 11.0 compression NGK TR55
will i get better performance out of those Quik
NA i used the NGK tr-55
what should they be gapped to?
Not gonna get any gains from a plug. You would have to upgrade to a better coil and wires. Even then, any gain would be minimal.
Coils are good to very high power levels. Wires help some I guess. The resistance of quality wires is a lot less than OEM but gains are minimal. Plugs and coils only show big gains if there is something wrong with the ones you have (N/A).
I run them cause they work and are cheap. i dont beleive in the hype of irdium and etc for these motors.
if your under 11.0 cr run TR55. if your over 11.0 run TR6. if Boost or juice run TR6 if your heavily boosted or juiced then run TR7
when i was NA i keep them at .035 [out of box] now boosted i run them out of box as well
under 11.0 and using TR55 i would gap them about .050 and see how that works
I agree. The wires are only a foot long. There are guys making 700+ horsepower on stock wires. It's definitely not one of the weak point in the drivetrain.
I used to use the Tr-55 spark plugs when I was N/A. They're good and cheap and do the job. They definitely don't hurt which is about the only thing a spark plug can do(they aren't going to help over stock plugs), plus they're $2 a plug.
Now I use Tr6 plugs for the nitrous and while it's only been a few days I didn't notice any loss of performance without the bottle going to the colder spark plug.
a close friend of mine once said: "spark is spark and spark lights fuel which runs the motor, might as well go get the dollar a plug champions". I put the delco iridiums in mine just because I am one of those ultra-picky type dudes who doesn't like installing anything that is "not recommended" by the manufacturer, unless it is suspension or performance mods. couldn't tell any difference between the cheap champions that were in it before I replaced them.
"Yep that's usually the case" said the guy who also has the $$$ Delcos LOL. There are some engines that HAVE TO have the stock plugs or they won't run like the older Quad4....but who cares about those?
thats like indexing your plugs. that little difference helps but to average person...not needed
what does the gap have to do with the engine?
Wow
TR55 when i was NA and now TR6's thats what all the smart people run on here. ahah
N/A run NGK TR55 gapped to .55 and if on spray run NGK TR6 gapped to .35.
