tune/mod questions

Hey guys im just trying to decide what to do on my yukon after i finish my motor for my car. I know i need a tune but should i wait and do lts ory and efans at the same time or tune first then retune? Im also thinking about a tb stall, i want to do gears too but labor alone is 900 lol. I do plan to pull a car trailer so i cant go nuts on a converter so im looking for something relitivly tame. Hoping to have headers fans and tune before the end of summer though. Opinions would be great guys thanks.

$900 labot for gear swap? Is that 4WD? You could drive all the way down here and one of use to do it and drive back and not spend that much counting gas money. I would get the efans and headers 1st and order the tune when they came in so that once you got it all installed the mail order PCM would be ready to install. Not sure you need gears though....doesn't it have 3.73's? TB stall would be cool.

You can always benefit from the tune now, then get a retune(s) later as you do some modifications.

:duh:It depends on how long in between you expect to wait for your mods... and also what your tuner offers for retunes and/or shipping cost???

Yeah i know i can benifit from a tune now and i may get one once my catback gets here (hopefully nextweek) but to me in a way i think it may be easier to do it at the same time as headers and fans. Yeah i do have 3.73s now but starting to get some noise from them. Shop said the ifs is a pain to work around on these trucks. Ive done the one in my car myaself but that was a 7.5in ring gear and not my dd. I figured if i am getting some wear ill go ahead and bump up to 4.10s and a better locker and yes it is 4x4. What about vette servo thinking about doin that when i put my catback on.

How hard is instal? Do i need to drop the rear of the trans down to do it? I looked up in there and it looks to be a tight fit. Also should i do the 1-2 or th 2-3 also?

Idk on yours but on my truck I didnt have to drop anything.

Where would be the best place to get ahold of a vette servo with all the orings and seals needed. Also one thats good quality? Found a few on ebay but idk how good they are.

A non-6.0 is a lot easierest to put Vette servo pistons in. I'd rather regear front diffs than rear 'cause I've done more and it pays better. Rears aren't that bad either. I'd probably charge $450 on the side for a double gear swap with someone I did not know. That's half of your quote. Leave the 73's unless the gearset is the source of the noise. If not, swapping some bearings is cheaper than others. You need more information.

it will prob be awhile before i decide to regear if i do but ill prob change the fluid in them this summer and check the wear on everything.

I would do a tune now. You can send for a retune later once you get the efans and LTs. Also consider underdrive pulleys.
A vette servo can be purchased for $12-$15. Easy to install with tranny in the truck.
