Small block RX7 kid buys GMC for "driver" ;)

Hey guys, i'm currently buildi a 355 6spd Mazda FC RX7 for my toy and i just bought a 01' GMC Sierra 4.8 with 65k on it for about 6k nice truck, already have a K&N cone filter on it and possibly have an ls1 with 40k on it lined up haha

I'll post more when i get more done to it, I have also ordered Hawk street pads for it, I plan on, over time of course, lowering it, possibly doing the LS swap or finding a healthy LQ4 for it, ect...I have also blacked out the grill and front bumper like the new chevy trucks i like it alot better than the grey/black/chrome... more to come!

I'm trying to figure out what a good first mod would be (other than the k&n cone filter i have already put on) and a Nelson tune seems to be the best bang for the buck? 375 for a reflash that seems to net about a second in the quarter, seems like a good deal to me but i'm in ny and nelson is in texas? Have guys had good luck with this? If i can get the truck to run low 15's or high 14's i'll be stoked just want a fun daily Plus i want to rid of TM ;)

ps duckysbht what wheels are on your truck i like em' the truck looks mean lowered with those wheels

Welcome! A tune is ALWAYS a good mod. The mail order tune will be good for ya. There is nothing bad about it--you tell them what you want, they mail you a PCM, and you mail your stock one back.

TM can be removed, but put a Vette servo in the tranny. They are cheap and easy, like Garrisson's mom. :laugh:

If you want a better shifting tranny--get a HD-2 shift kit from Trans-go...

get a Nelson tune you will def. be happy with it.

that's my buddy's LQ4 we are swapping it into his RX7 with a 02' ZO6 cam, and a good tune haha (2700 lbs car ;) I kept bugging him about throwing it in the truck but he wasn't buying it haha

Also His friend has HP tuners and a turbocharged LT1 camaro (LS1 coils) so I might try having him tune it for free...
